Prologue: The Cursed Star Descends
The heavens split open the night Li Sheng was born.
In the ancient Xuanming Dynasty, when the moon turned black and the rivers flowed backward, the astrologers trembled in terror. They spoke of a cursed star — a sign that an existence beyond mortal understanding would descend into the world.
And so he did.
Li Sheng came into the world bloodied and silent, his cries swallowed by the heavy air of his cursed birth. His eyes, a ghostly silver, glowed faintly even as a newborn. The villagers called him a demon. His mother died in childbirth. His father vanished a month later. Left to the mercy of a suspicious world, Li Sheng survived through an iron will — and something darker that whispered in his ear when no one else was near.
By age fifteen, he was banished from Yinyue Village, exiled to the desolate Heiyin Peak — a place where even the most courageous cultivators dared not tread. There, amidst the ruins of an ancient sect and tombs of forgotten masters, something awakened within him.
