Lee Maverick's life has never been easy. She was classified as a loser: bullied up until an early age, had barely any friends to call her own, and her daily life consisted of helping to teach at her adoptive father's dojo and mop floors--fun for a high school girl. That is until one accident led to her untimely death. Cliche, I know, but get this--Lee expects death to be filled with balls of light, singing angels, and dancing naked babies meeting her at the (fingers-crossed) gates of heaven, but surprisingly enough, Lee wakes up to a nightmare. Confusing--I know--and the nice receptionist told her she landed in purgatory--the land between hell and heaven, and because of her very complicated life, her situation is "unique," which means she's placed in a world combined with angels and not-so-bad devils under one roof--which leads us to where we are now, Ragnar Academy. Ragnar Academy is home to both angelic beings and powerful devils who have either earned or have been blessed with the opportunity for a once-in-a-lifetime (haha, pun) opportunity to regain a second chance at life. Here are the rules: graduate the academy as a Soul Executioner, succeed in missions, and collect 100 souls for their capstone assignment. Then, they will be given the opportunity of a new life. Lee isn't sure how the heck she's supposed to survive evil demons and kind-of-nice-but-spoiled angels floating around, let alone the many new, but odd homework assignments and missions she has to go on to get a second chance at life, but she'll try. She isn't very good at a lot of things, but Lee knows how to hold her own--farming 100 souls shouldn't be that hard, right?
