Footsteps no larger than a young man’s marked his presence, a long trail swallowed slowly by the blizzard behind him. Above, the sky darkened into a black abyss, scattered with distant white dots. Stars. He paused. Pitch-black eyes, half hidden beneath his hair, lifted to the sky as a small rift appeared. From it, a thin, black, cosmic arm extended, tearing open a doorway into space before subtly withdrawing and vanishing. “It starts,” he murmured, no emotion in his voice. “The first arc has begun. Arc 0 has started. Just started. Finally started.” A smile made it ways on his slightly red lips like a nameless star. A Witness after all the Witnesses are dead.
