In a world of the Great Tree, it only matters how high you are, and those that live in the roots are worth nothing.
While those that live above the leaves treat even the best of humanity like monkeys among the branches.
Kaelen is one of the unlucky children that survived the deepest parts of the Great Tree and is bound to work the worst jobs in the society. Big bosses with masses of angelic feathers have powers to both kill him and keep him alive, while the only thing he has for himself is a measly reminder of his parents.
His life changes when he finds a deep dark crevice in the Tree, and finds a creature, that all thought to be immortal ,dead and a single dark-obsidian feather along it.
