Jungkook lay on his back, overwhelmed by his thoughts as he stared at the ceiling. The moonlight streamed softly through his window, creating gentle shadows in his room, but it couldn't help him relax or fall asleep. He had hoped to drift into dreams, but nightmares kept jolting him awake, leaving him anxious and sweating.
For a brief moment, he closed his eyes and found comfort in the sound of your voice, which felt like a soothing song in the quiet of the night.
"How does it feel?" you had asked excitedly, your laughter sparkling like stars. "I got this blanket just for you. Isn't it fluffy and soft? The moment I saw it, I thought of you."
A smile crept onto Jungkook's face as he remembered your animated expressions. You had a special way of turning ordinary moments into something special, bringing life to everything you said.
Then you playfully critiqued a show you both watched together: "The main character is so silly, don't you think? Why does she act like that? Sure, she likes the guy, but she's all over him! Doesn't she feel a bit embarrassed? I would be so mortified! And the guy? He doesn't even like her!"
As Jungkook opened his eyes, a warm sense of nostalgia filled him. He glanced at the door, half-expecting you to walk in at any moment. Sitting up, he drew his knees to his chest and buried his face in them, trying to quiet the noise in his mind.
"Should I tell you about my day? It was wonderful, of course," you teased, your playful giggle ringing in his memory. "Surprised?"
"Okay, fine, maybe I'm boring. Sorry, Kookie... I just get so excited talking to you."
He could picture you rolling your eyes, grinning, and shining light into his life whenever he felt down.
"I miss you so much," you said softly, your voice filled with longing that made his heart ache.
"Have I told you today how much you mean to me? I can't remember, so I'll tell you again-just in case," you added sincerely.
"You are the most amazing person I've ever met. Never forget how special you are to me. I can't imagine what life would be like without you. I guess you're my favorite place to be; I hope you know that."
Then the tone in your voice changed, hesitant but still bright. "But if you ever feel like leaving, there's nothing I can do, right?" you laughed nervously. "Just promise me you won't feel trapped with me. You can do anything you want, go wherever you want, and be with whoever you want."
Those words hit him hard. "I just want to stay in your heart for a little while, wherever that may be."
"Don't forget about me, wherever life takes you."
In that moment, something shifted inside him. The ache in his heart grew stronger, and with each breath, he felt a crushing wave of emotion wash over him. He felt like something was tightening around his heart, almost like he could hear it pounding loudly in his chest, desperate to break free.
Ah... Damn it!

"How are you Y/N? You know that if there is something I can help you with I am right here." He met your eyes.
You smiled at the boy who was standing in front of you with a warm smile plastered onto his face.
"I am alright. I am sorry if I seemed a bit off the past few days, I guess I miss my parents more than I thought I would. It's been so long since we last saw each other. "
"If you need some days off... "
You shook your head.
"No Jinyoung, it's ok really. My parents and I... Let's say we don't share the same beliefs. At the moment, I am not prepared to see them and confront them. "
You missed the presence of your parents, of course, it was the truth. But it wasn't the entire truth. The reason you were feeling down was due to his absence. You got used to his presence into your life. Even if he was unconscious, taking care of him became a part of who you were.
You couldn't say that to Jinyoung. His grandmother you were taking care of, knew about Jungkook, Jinyoung knew about it as well. But they didn't know his situation. You had to keep everything a secret. Because of that, you felt really lonely sometimes, not having someone to share your fears and anguish with. Sometimes you felt the need to call Mingyu and get this off your chest, as he was the only one who knew everything. But you didn't want to worry him too much. So, instead, you preferred to pretend in front of him as well. Of course, you were happy every time Jungkook was near, but now... Now you couldn't bring yourself to smile anymore. The hole in your chest wouldn't let you.
As you opened the door to your home, a deep emptiness washed over you. The familiar space felt stark and hollow without him. Even though you thought you were prepared for this moment, the overwhelming rush of pain and loneliness hit you like a tidal wave, leaving you gasping for breath. It felt as if your entire world had been turned upside down, filled with emotions you couldn't escape.
The reality began to set in painfully: he was really gone. Your world felt like it was falling apart. Without thinking, you found yourself curling up on your bed, seeking comfort in the familiar softness of your sheets. Pressing your face into his pillow, you let the tears fall silently, releasing all the grief that had been building up inside you. There was a strange irony in this moment-you had the chance to express your feelings openly because he wasn't there to see your vulnerability. But in your heart, questions swirled: What had you done to make him leave? Why did he go without saying anything?
A faint flicker of relief washed over you when you remembered that he had taken the money you left for him. At least you wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. But just like a shadow, disappointment crept back into your heart. A small hope still lingered-maybe he wouldn't really be gone for good. Could it be that he still cared for you, despite everything? You had once been so convinced of the deep connection you shared, something precious that had blossomed through understanding each other's complexities. But as time passed, you started to fear those feelings had faded, replaced by uncertainty. Memories flooded back of the many late nights spent talking after long days, and anxiety settled in. Had he simply grown tired of you?
"Ah... Why did I talk so much? I'm so sorry," you whispered into his pillow, clutching it as it soaked up your tears. You embraced it tightly, inhaling deeply to catch the faint scent he left behind, a bittersweet reminder of the warmth he once brought to your life.
A crushing anxiety gripped your chest, made worse by the knowledge that he was in Seoul. You had always trusted Mingyu, but trusting did little to ease your worries. What if he got into trouble? Or worse? Thoughts spiraled through your mind-what if he was hurting himself? What if he harmed someone else? Just imagining that filled you with panic and dread.
The world had painted him in a negative light, branding him a criminal for reasons that felt miles away from who he truly was. Every time you overheard someone speak poorly of him, your skin would prickle with the urge to defend him, to shout about the kind-hearted person hidden beneath the surface. But instead, you chose silence, pretending to be indifferent. This was a heavy burden to bear, the struggle to keep the truth locked away inside.
You remembered the way his fingers would gently weave with yours, how he would hold you tightly in his sleep, almost as if he were scared of being alone. Those small moments of closeness haunted you, intensifying the ache in your chest. No one else saw the sensitive side of him, the loneliness that lay behind his eyes, or the challenges he fought through daily. It felt so unfair that the world saw him as a monster.
Now, an overwhelming sense of helplessness consumed you. You realized you couldn't protect him anymore. He was out there, facing dangers you could hardly bear to think about. Mingyu had his own responsibilities; there was no way he could stay by Jungkook's side every moment. Just the thought of getting a call from Mingyu with bad news sent chills through you.
"Will you come?" Mingyu's question echoed in your mind. As much as you wanted to see him, fear gripped you equally. What if he saw you and ran away? Where could he go to be safe from those who were hunting him? The thought of losing his trust again filled you with anxiety.
Hours dragged on painfully, stretching into what felt like an eternity until Mingyu finally reached out to confirm that Jungkook had found safety with him. A smile flickered on your face, a brief wave of relief washing over you. But when Mingyu mentioned his cousin Jennie, your smile faded, replaced by an unsettling feeling in your stomach. Restlessness took hold of you, and although you couldn't quite understand why, part of you knew something was off. You thought back to Jungkook's unpredictable nature, and unease settled in.
You remembered that side of his you loved so much, but you couldn't trust. No matter how much you tried, you just couldn't. He was capable of anything.
That side of his who loved to play around with people.
As much as you loved him... Inside your heart, you were sure that he would disappoint you.
The next day...
This is Jennie. Mingyu leaned closer to her, his presence enveloping her as he swung one arm around her shoulders protectively.
Across the room, Jungkook's gaze locked onto Jennie with a weight that seemed to darken the very air around them. She felt a strange heat rising within her-flustered, her cheeks flushed as they caught his intense stare.
Her eyes wandered over his features, tracing the sharp lines of his jaw, the way his hair fell just so, and those eyes-dark and penetrating. It was as if they held ancient secrets, a predatory gleam that made her heart race. A knot of unease tightened in her stomach. He was undeniably beautiful, captivating beyond measure, yet his allure was laced with something deeper, something that struck her with raw fear.
In that moment, Jennie was gripped by an unfamiliar sensation, a chill creeping down her spine that left her breathless. This was a fear unlike any she had felt before-a visceral instinct that warned her to tread carefully. Yet, even amidst the dread, she found herself irresistibly drawn to the depths of his gaze, mesmerized by the darkness and beauty that lay within, the mysteries that beckoned her to explore.
What unnerved her further was the way Jungkook observed her, his expression almost defiant, as if challenging her to confront whatever stirred between them. She instinctively wrapped her arms around herself, a futile attempt to quell the tremors that coursed through her-shivering, though the temperature felt oddly warm.
In contrast, Jungkook bit his lip, a smirk threatening to escape as he watched her reaction. He was all too aware of the turmoil he could incite in those around him; it was a revelation he had discovered long ago. Though he didn't seek this kind of attention, it was an unavoidable reality of his existence. Yet, alongside that awareness, there was something else-a primal urge that surged within him, a deep-seated desire to possess her fully.
It was a conflict that raged inside him-a feeling he both relished and despised, an unquenchable thirst that he struggled to suppress.
"Yeah... Why not?" he thought, amusement flickering in his eyes. "Let's see what you've got."
