The final competition will revert to an elimination format, meaning that a loss will result in immediate elimination. Therefore, each participant only has one chance.
Moreover, no one knows how many finalists now possess their own Mount Dragons. Dragon Clan members who have Mount Dragons aren't allowed to use Divine Dragon Armor and Dragonlances during the competition. But still, that's a two against one advantage which is very distinct.
Of course, no one would choose their Mount Dragon lightly. Once chosen, it cannot be changed for a lifetime. Even if one cannot become a Dragon Knight, the choice remains the same.
