Chapter 12: The Great Event Planning & The Hilarious History Test

Jay beamed with pride as his proposal for the fresher's party was officially selected. Kabir, who had also submitted a proposal, initially felt a little disappointed. However, after carefully considering both ideas, he admitted that Jay's plan was far superior. With no hard feelings, the two sat together in class, discussing the event and assigning responsibilities.

Several other seniors were also given tasks to handle different aspects of the event. Kiya, for instance, was assigned the job of informing students about the dress code for the party. Since she had taken responsibility for making the official announcement, she decided to draft a notice, get it approved and signed by the principal, and put it up on the notice board the following morning.

While everyone was busy with their responsibilities, the afternoon brought a different kind of excitement—or rather, nervousness—for the students. It was the day when the history teacher had promised to announce the test results. Unlike other teachers who simply posted marks on the notice board, this particular teacher believed in a more dramatic approach. She preferred to declare the results in class, one by one, making sure to add her own commentary about the performance of each student.

As the lunch break ended, students returned to the classroom with mixed feelings—some anxious, some indifferent, and a few overly confident. The teacher entered, adjusted her glasses, and with a smirk, began calling out names.

"First, Tiya! Congratulations, you passed the oral test! But of course, the whole class already knew that. I think even the walls of this room knew that by now." The class chuckled, and Tiya grinned proudly.

Then came Kiya's turn. The teacher picked up her paper and sighed dramatically. "Ah, Kiya... I asked for an answer about historical events, and you gave me a detailed description of the fashion trends of that era. Fascinating, truly. Perhaps if this were a fashion studies class, you'd top the ranks! But since it's history... well, let's just say you made a 'bold fashion statement' in your answer sheet." The class erupted in laughter as Kiya rolled her eyes playfully.

"Next, Jay and Chahat. Good work, both of you! Solid answers, well-structured, and no unnecessary storytelling." They both exchanged victorious smiles.

"Aman!" The teacher sighed and shook her head. "Your answers were slightly better than last time. However, 'slightly' is the key word here. Perhaps if you paid as much attention in my class as you do to sleeping in the last bench, you'd have scored even higher." The class roared with laughter, and Aman grinned sheepishly.

Then came Ruhi's turn. The teacher held up her answer sheet and looked at the class as if preparing for a grand revelation. "Ruhi... What... what is this? I asked about a historical event, and you wrote a recipe for disaster—literally! Your answer reads like a lemon rice recipe, except instead of coming together as a perfect dish, it turned into an unrecognizable mess."

The students burst into laughter, but the teacher wasn't done. "The funny part is—you actually knew the answer! You just couldn't resist turning it into a novel. However, since your storytelling at least covered the right period in history, I have graciously decided to pass you. Consider it a reward for your creativity."

Ruhi laughed along with the class. "Well, at least I passed, right?" she said, shrugging.

With all the results announced and the history teacher's entertaining remarks fresh in their minds, the students spent the rest of the day either celebrating, teasing their friends, or sighing in relief. Meanwhile, the preparations for the fresher's party continued, promising an event filled with fun, drama, and maybe even a few more unexpected surprises.
