The sun started rise and shined through the window into the mans eyes. He woke up with a loud yawn and gathered his stuff together. He went to the front of the inn, returned the keys to the clerk and went out into the town. While walking he stop by a merchant and brought a lantern for fifteen silver just in case he stays out too late and then continued to the front gate. He saw a guard at the gate and went up to them to ask some questions and when he walked up to the guard he noticed it was the same guard from yesterday.
"Morning," he said to the guard. The guard turned to the man.
"Oh, good morning, how was your first night in town?" the guard asked the man.
"It was fine, wished that I could sleep in, but I can't waste anytime."
"That's good for you, is there anything you need?"
"I want to know what was the best place to start hunting for any monsters or creature?"
"Well, if anything, the Ermaroc Forest just south-east of here would probably be good. There are some slimes you could kill out there. Also there are dire wolves you could hunt for their hind to sell for some extra silver."
"Okay, that's all I need to know, thanks," and the man start to follow a dirt road south towards the Ermaroc Forest.
"Hope you have a weapon on you," the guard shouted from the distance to the man. The man looked down at his braces and then clenched his hand into a fist.
"Don't worry, I do," the man shouted back at the guard and continued down the path. After walking for a few minutes he made a hard turn left into the forest and began to look for something to kill and found a group of three slimes in a clearing just up ahead and went in to attack. He charges and swings at one of them, it jumps out of the way and he misses. He goes in for another attack but is knocked to the ground by one of the slimes that snuck behind him. He gets up and turns around to see it jumping at him and forming what appeared to be a mouth. The man raises one of his arms to block its attack. The slime clamps its jaw shaped mouth on the mans arm but thanks to the braces he didn't feel a thing and thrusts his free hand down into the slime and kills it in one blow. The other two slimes went to attack and the man began to swing at them. He hit them both but did not kill them like the first one. He charged towards one and swung at it and killed it, the last one jumped at him and he pulled his arm back and thrust it through the last slime.
"Well that was easy enough," he said to his self cheerfully. He start to collect whatever remain of the slimes he could salvage.
"Now it's time for a real hunt," and continue deeper into the forest after collecting the slimy substance. He slayed a few more groups of slimes and collected their material. About thirty minutes later he found some squirrels and chased them around but couldn't catch any of them. After some more time wondering around he found a dire wolf. The dire wolf heard him and ran off, the man chased him up a small hill and when he reach the top he was meet with a group of dire wolves waiting for him. He ran back down the hill and was lucky to loss them in a dense build up of trees. Hours in the forest and the only things he was able to do was kill some slimes and collect some plants. His stomach started to growl and he took his last piece of food in his satchel. Before he could start to eat it a squirrel ran up to him and gave it a blank expression. Not knowing if it was one of the squirrels that he been chasing part of the day or not he decided to give a piece of his rations to the squirrel.
"I guess that's it for now," he said and got and started to retrace his steps to the main road back to town. After he got back to town he went to merchant hee bought the lantern from to sell what he had gathered.
"Hmm, for the plants and slime it will getcha about 22 silver," the merchant told the man.
"Only 22, that barely enough to last me a few more days, but its better than nothing, I guess," the man sighed as the merchant handed the man silver.
"If anything, hide from the dire wolves fetch a good price," the merchant informed the man.
"I would have some hide, but while chasing one down it ran to its buddies and ran me off the damn things."
"That's very unfortunate, if anything, instead of putting your coins towards staying at the in I could give you a small tent discounted to 20 silver with some food as a bonus."
"How much does your tents usually go for?" asked the man curiously.
"For around 35 silver," the merchant replied.
"Well that sounds like a good deal, and with some food for free, sounds like you got yourself a deal," and the man gave the merchant the silver.
"Alrighty, here you go, and if you want to get some food before heading back out the bar servers some cheap food if your on a budget."
"Thanks for the info, I'll head there right now to get some grub."
"Alright, later friend and good luck on the rest of your travels." The merchant and the man waved to each other bye and the man head for the bar to get some food before leaving back to the forest camp out for the night. He heads into the bar and there are a few people inside, he sees a man with heavy armor, a shield and lance, a women with a light armor, a hooded cape, daggers and a bow, and another man with light armor and a sword to his left side grouped at a table in a corner. At one of the middle tables was another group with two people wearing some kind of magical robes, one with some light and one with basic armor. Most of the other tables had jusst normal folks enjoying themselves or talking to others around them. I found a spot on the other side of the room across from the first group that I noticed and ordered me a small plater of steak, some rice, and a drink for 5 silver and ate with no hesitation. After eating the man got up and walk towards the exit and saw a board filled with papers. He looked at what they were and saw they were quest that people posted, he looked at what was available and then left the bar and headed towards the Ermaroc before night hit. When he enter the forest he found a clear spot next to a river and set up camp and laid down.
"This sucks," he says to his self sadly.
"Only if i could catch some of those squirrels earlier today, or even that dire wolf that ran from me. Whatever though, tomorrow will be better, when I get up, I will kill some slime for some money and go to the bar and try out one of those quest. Today my have bad, but tomorrow will be my day." He blew out the lantern and went to sleep. Mornig rose and he got up to start his. He started a fire and went towards the river to find an abandoned pot unrusted and filled it with some water. He went back to camp, put the pot on the fire to let the water boil and went back to the river. He kneeled down to the water and splash some on his face and watched the ripples. When the water cleared up he saw the reflection of a dire wolf snaring at him ready to jump him and he jumped to the side quickly. The dire wolf jumped into the water and the man suched back to his camp only to find another dire wolf waiting for him. The one that had jump in the river caught up and he had no where to go. The dire wolf in front of him started to charge at him and he swung knocking it into the fire and tent. The beast got back up with the tent behind it starting to burn.
"WHAT THE HELL, THAT WAS MY ONLY ONE," the man screemed furiously.
"Now you assholes are going to pay." He charged towards the wolf, punched it in the face and knocked it into a tree.
"That's what happens when you mess with me," then the dire wolf behind the man pushed him to the ground. The man turned around but before he could get up the wolf pinned both his arms to the ground. He struggled to break free but couldn't. He looked up to see the wolfs mouth open exposing his sharp, jagged teeth and lunged its head forward to end the mans life. Before the creature teeth could make contact with the mans skin an arrow flew through the air and into the skull of the wolf. The other wolf got up and ran off. The man wondered who helped him. He heared a rustling in the bushes to his right, got up and tryed to see who was there. His savior came out revealing it was the woman that he saw at the bar just last night.
"Hey" she said with a smile on her face.
