There's a term in the world: melodrama.
It refers to all the plots that are clichéd, the connections that are clichéd, the causes, processes, outcomes, characters, timing, and settings that are clichéd, the third-rate storylines that have been overused but still enthusiastically employed by some, where you can almost guess how many people will die by the end just by listening to the intro music. It's undoubtedly one of the most worthless things ever created by humans. They occupy a huge bandwidth of your brain, and all they leave you with is a cast list...
But sometimes, you have to admit, melodramatic things can actually happen.
