Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: 1 vs 1?

The Fortuned preacher's monster was a sight to behold, a grotesque parody of its former self. Its body ballooned to a staggering 4 meters high, a twisted mass of pulsating, serpentine tendrils that seemed to writhe and twist like living darkness.

Its skin had transformed into a sickly, greenish hue, like rotting flesh, and its eyes blazed with an otherworldly, malevolent intensity, as if the very fires of hell had been ignited within its soul. The air around it seemed to ripple and distort, like the surface of a stagnant pool, as if reality itself was being warped and twisted to accommodate its monstrous form.

Riski felt the full weight of the monster's malevolent gaze upon him, a crushing pressure that seemed to suffocate him. The creature's eyes burned with a pure, unadulterated hatred, a hunger to tear Riski's very flesh apart.

Riski knew he had to act fast, to escape the monster's wrath before it was too late. With a swift motion of his short staff, he conjured a blinding flash of light, a burst of radiance that illuminated the darkened room and sent the monster reeling backward.

Seizing the opportunity, Riski turned and sprinted towards the hole behind the monster, the same opening through his fireball had blasting open. He could hear the monster's enraged roar echoing through the chamber, its thunderous footsteps pounding the ground as it gave chase.

Riski didn't dare look back, fearing what he might see. Instead, he focused on putting as much distance between himself and the monster as possible. He burst through the hole and emerged on the other side, gasping for breath as he stumbled forward.

For a moment, Riski simply ran, his feet pounding the ground as he desperately sought to put the monster and its unholy hatred behind him. But as he finally began to slow, his chest heaving with exhaustion, he realized that he had to keep moving.

He had to minimize the loss, to prevent the monster from causing any more collateral damage inside the room. Riski steeled himself for what lay ahead, knowing that he would have to face the monster again if he was to have any hope of stopping it.

The monster, driven by its insatiable hunger for destruction, disregarded the unconscious bodies scattered around the room and fixated solely on Riski. It lunged forward, its massive body squeezing through the hole with a deafening roar.

The wall shuddered and collapsed, sending debris crashing to the ground as the monster forced its way through the narrow opening. Riski, already sprinting across the backyard, could hear the monster's thunderous footsteps echoing through the field.

The abandoned building's backyard was a vast, open expanse of neglected land, littered with discarded construction materials. Red bricks, weathered wood, and bags of rock and sand lay scattered across the field, a testament to the long-abandoned construction project.

Riski had deliberately chosen this location to make his stand against the monster. The open field would give him room to maneuver, and the scattered construction materials could provide him with makeshift weapons or barricades.

As he ran, Riski's eyes scanned the field, taking in the layout of the scattered materials. He spotted a pile of red bricks, a stack of wooden planks, and a cluster of bags filled with rock and sand. His mind racing with strategy, Riski steeled himself for the battle ahead.

Syal, despite his physique unconscious state, had been secretly working on a desperate plan to turn the tide of battle. With a surge of determination, he poured all his spirit into the Proto artifact, merging his consciousness with his trusted companion.

This was the Artifact Possession Technique, a technique that allowed Syal to take control of the artifact. However, this technique came at a terrible cost: Syal's spirit would be pulled back to his body in approximately 15 minutes, and each use of the technique would dwindle this time further. His spirit could feel the pull from his spirit core.

With time running out, Syal-as-Proto extracted himself from his physical body and began to mold his new form. The Proto-Syal artifact reshaped itself into a miniature humanoid robot, its metallic body glowing with a soft blue light.

Without hesitation, Proto-Syal sprinted out of the room, racing against the clock to join Riski in the battle outside. The sound of crashing and destruction grew louder as he approached the backyard, and Proto-Syal steeled himself for the fight ahead, knowing that every second counted.

Riski clashed with the monster in a flurry of movement, the two combatants exchanging blows in a cat mouse style. Despite its massive size, the monster moved with a speed that defied logic, its limbs blurring as it struck at Riski with deadly precision. Riski keep dodge again and again while sending his own attack.

Riski, undaunted, seized upon the scattered construction materials, using them to unleash a barrage of makeshift projectiles. He hurled red bricks, wooden planks, and bags of rock and sand at the monster, using his energy manipulation abilities to make them explode on impact.

But to Riski's horror, the monster didn't even flinch. The explosions rocked the ground, sending shockwaves through the air, but the monster's massive body absorbed the impacts with ease. Its twisted, nightmarish form seemed to be impervious to damage, shrugging off even the most devastating attacks with an unnerving lack of response.

Riski's eyes widened in alarm as he realized the true extent of the monster's power. He had never faced an opponent like this before, one that seemed to be immune to conventional attacks. The monster's sheer resilience sent a shiver down Riski's spine, and he knew he had to come up with a new plan – and fast – if he was to have any hope of stopping this unstoppable horror.

"System uses the Scanner Voucher."

Transparent window that can only be seen by him pop out in front of him.

Getting the information about monster, didn't help much with situation. But Riski still glad because he know one more core. Faith Core. From this information he also knows all his attack somehow dismissed that monster energy. He has to use up the monster energy. The bad news is, he will run out energy first before the monster.

Riski summoned a barrage of fireballs, unleashing them at the monster with a swift flick of his short stafd. The flames erupted on impact, engulfing the monster's twisted form in a blaze of orange and yellow.

But the monster refused to be deterred. It charged forward, its massive body undulating as it moved, and swung a colossal fist at Riski. The young fated barely dodged the blow, leaping to the side as the fist crashed into the ground, sending shockwaves through the earth.

The battle raged on, with Riski darting back and forth, unleashing fireball after fireball at the monster. But no matter how many times he struck, the monster simply would not fall. It kept coming, its movements relentless, as it sought to crush Riski beneath its massive fists.

The fight seemed to stretch on forever, with neither combatant able to gain a clear advantage. Riski's fireballs scorched the earth, sending plumes of smoke and ash into the air, while the monster's thunderous blows shook the ground, threatening to knock Riski off balance.

As the minutes ticked by, Riski began to tire. His energies were dwindling, and the monster's relentless assault was starting to take its toll. But he refused to give up, digging deep within himself to find the strength to keep fighting.

The monster, too, seemed to be slowing, its movements becoming slightly more labored as the battle wore on. But it was far from defeated, and Riski knew that he still had a long, hard fight ahead of him if he was to emerge victorious.

Just as Riski was preparing to unleash another trump card, a sudden shot rang out across the battlefield. Proto-Syal, Syal's robotic avatar, had appeared on the scene, a modified flintlock pistol smoking in its mechanical hand.

The bullet, imbued with Syal's spiritual energies, had struck the monster with incredible force, blasting its head into a pulp. They finally won. But like always Riski still feel uneasy.

Riski and Proto-Syal watched in horror as the monster's body stumbled forward, its limbs twitching wildly as it collapsed to the ground.

But to their utter dismay, the monster refused to die. Its tendrils, now freed from the control of its destroyed brain, began to twist and writhe like living serpents, reshaping the monster's body into a grotesque, amorphous mass.

The creature's humanoid form dissolved, replaced by a nightmarish tangle of tendrils that flailed and lashed out in all directions. The air was filled with the sound of crashing and destruction as the monster's tendrils smashed into the surrounding environment, reducing everything in their path to rubble.

Riski and Proto-Syal exchanged a terrified glance. They had never seen anything like this before. The monster's transformation had made it even more deadly, its uncontrolled tendrils wreaking havoc on the battlefield.

"F*CK Phase three!?" Riski say to himself.

"We need to stop it, now!" Riski yelled, his voice barely audible over the din of destruction.

Proto-Syal nodded, its mechanical body tensing as it prepared to launch another attack. But as they watched, the monster's tendrils continued to twist and writhe, growing longer and more destructive by the second...
