Kat's quest for a ranged option hadn't gone well. With a truly excruciating amount of time and concentration Kat was able to change just her nail into water and force it away in a small stream… but it was still more like a hose then a water jet cutter and it had occurred to her during practice that they didn't have much range to them anyway so this was probably a dead end from that angle.
Kat did try to freeze her water but found that to be a bust. No matter how much demonic fire she applied to her water form it was treated as if there was nothing there. The closest she could get to affecting it was using her demonic fire to freeze something else and then using that to reduce the temperature of the water making her up… to essentially no effect.
