I very much love reading stuff like this so i thought to educate or make known to people that don't know about this yet the beauty of such stuff before giving my idea on a power or powers. I also don't want people to think i am a plagiarist of sorts so if you want to read the full info on five elements theory and others, go to chinahighlights.com for more information or type five Chinese elements to search for it. I got the most of the info in this chapter from there (I already knew about fengshui and the elements from a Netflix show i watched called Wu Assassin but i learnt alot more about the elements from there and came up with this idea from that)
Five Elements Theory is a Chinese philosophy used to describe interactions and relationships between things.
The five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal, and water — are believed to be the fundamental elements of everything in the universe between which interactions occur.
Each element has its own characteristics and associations with different aspect of nature, such as direction, season, color, shape, etc. They're even associated with Astrology (e.g. planets, virtues, heavenly creatures like vermilion bird, azure dragon, black tortoise, yellow dragon, and white tiger etc.), Chinese medicine (taste and sensory organ), Fengshui (a pseudoscientific traditional practice that originates from Ancient China claiming to use energy forces to harmonize people with their surrounding environment. Five elements theory is the most important part of Fengshui theory. According to ancient Chinese philosophy, good fengshui will bring good luck. The qi energy of every direction is said to be ruled by one of the five elements. So aligning one's life with the qi should bring good luck and smooth all obstacles in the way), Chinese Zodiac (each zodiac is associated with an element: Wood - Tiger, Rabbit. Fire - Snake, Horse. Earth - Ox, Dragon, Goat, Dog. Metal - Monkey, Rooster. Water - Pig, Rat.)
The five element theory states that the world changes according to these five elements (Wood, Water, Metal, Earth, Fire) generating or overcoming relationships with one another.
Generating relationships: Wood fuels fire, fire forms earth (volcanoes, ash, etc.), earth contains metal, metal carries water (buckets, pipes, etc.) and water feeds wood (trees, plants, etc.).
Overcoming relationships: Fire melts metal, metal penetrates wood (chopping, sawing, drilling, nailing, screwing), wood separates earth (tree roots breaking up soil/rock), earth absorbs water and water quenches fire.
Interesting right? You probably know what i want to do by now so here goes.
A Wuxing power (drawing on all five Chinese elements)
{this next part was written after the authors thought on the bottom, so if your interested, first read that then come back here}
You can spice it up if your interested in using it. Like i don't know, for every element, there's a single weapon to access it. The MC could have his own qi that he can use to increase strength, speed, durability, senses, , sense other energies etc. While the weapons are sealed on the MCs body in the form of body art/tattoos. And when he's using a weapon for say, water, the tattoo where the water weapon was kept will glow, same for other weapons. And you can say the MC could use the elements without their respective weapons, but it will be weaker or just less controlled.
Another thing you could do that would be really cool in my opinion would be to make the five weapons sentient. Even give them beast forms in a sense. This brings me back to the five heavenly creatures (Vermilion bird, azure dragon, black tortoise, yellow dragon, and white tiger). The Azure dragon is associated with the wood element. Vermilion bird for fire element, yellow dragon for earth element. White tiger is associated with the metal element and black tortoise is associated with water element. You could take elements from Naruto and Naruto Shippuden with the mental space where jinchuriki meet their bijuu and make it so when he meditates, he can enter a space in his mind to meet his five heavenly creature partners/weapons and interact with them. And apart from summoning his weapons to use, the weapons summoned can with his permission take the beast forms (Vermilion bird, azure dragon, black tortoise, yellow dragon, and white tiger) and he can ride them, or fight alongside them.
{now i'm done}
