The moment the crimson flames that had suddenly illuminated the room disappeared from his body. Rentt felt his heart rate increasing as his mind raced with a single all devourering thought.
He needed to escape.
This bunker, an actual defensive divine grade magic artefact that had survived the great war, was the foundations for Numbers. The secret organisation he had spent a majority of his life creating and nurturing till this point.
It was safe to say, this very base was the backbone of the entire organization and without it, the entire organization would quickly collapse around itself or be devoured by the countless smaller organisations lurking in the shadows.
Yet, at this moment, none of that mattered to him. Mission? Faith? Believe? None of that actually mattered to Rentt, someone who had grown up as an orphan. The only reason he decided to work for the churches was to escape the sense of a futile existence his life had been.
