In 2011, Hu Shan challenged the well-known Malaysian Martial Artist Li Zong, and the two fought publicly at sea. After exchanging more than twenty techniques, Li Zong was left blinded by Hu Shan with a Killing Move of the White Crane Sect and committed suicide on the spot following his defeat.
In 2012, Hu Shan gambled in a duel with Li Zong's good friend, the honorary instructor of the Malaysia Martial Arts Federation, acclaimed as Malaysia's number one expert, Zhang Jinfei. It took place in international waters as well, and after more than fifty exchanges, Hu Shan narrowly secured victory, breaking Zhang Jinfei's throat bone on the spot.
In 2013, Hu Shan went to Indonesia to challenge the local famed Chinese Boxer Zhu Changwei, who ultimately lost an eye and had his right hand disabled.
That same year, Hu Shan successively defeated two other Chinese Boxers in Indonesia, killing them both in the encounters.
