The dense fog blanketed the desolate plains, and the eerie cries of Scarlet Ghosts echoed through the darkness. The battlefield was littered with the charred remains of these creatures, burned to ash by the sheer force of Nie Li's defensive force field.
Just as Nie Li was about to instruct Xiao Ning'er to merge with her demon spirits and annihilate the remaining Scarlet Ghosts, the cold and mechanical voice of the A.I. chip resonated in his mind
[Beep! High energy gigantic airborne creature approaching! Power Level - Gold Rank!]
Nie Li's eyes narrowed. Without hesitation, he called his comrades closer and extended his Defensive force field, shielding everyone within its protective barrier.
The remaining Scarlet Ghosts, in their blind madness, lunged at the invisible shield. Upon contact, their bodies ignited in flames, their shrieks echoing through the night as they disintegrated into ashes. Despite their Silver Rank strength, these creatures were nothing but insects before Nie Li's power.
Nie Li's eyes turned fiendish yellow, resembling the Abyssal Regal Lion he had partially merged with. His vision tore through the darkness and pierced the void, locking onto the incoming threat above. (Image)
In the distant mist, a faint light flickered like a swaying lamp.
"Nie Li, look! There's a light!" Lu Piao exclaimed in surprise, mistaking it for a village.
Xiao Ning'er furrowed her brows. "Is there someone living in this desolate place?"
Nie Li's gaze remained sharp as he coldly replied, "That's no village. It's a Gold Rank creature. The light on its forehead resembles a lamp."
Du Ze and the others felt their hearts tremble in fear. This land was filled with danger at every step. Even before they could deal with the Scarlet Ghosts, another monstrosity had emerged.
The flickering light drew closer. What they initially thought was a lamp was now a blazing beacon atop the creature's forehead. Only a hundred meters away, the light illuminated the horrifying form of the Netherlamp Behemoth, a mountain-sized demon beast with a gaping maw that could swallow a fortress whole. Thousands of scarlet tongues writhed within its mouth, extending and coiling around the Scarlet Ghosts. (Image)

The Scarlet Ghosts let out horrifying shrieks as the tongues ensnared them and dragged them into the darkness. The Netherlamp Behemoth devoured them mercilessly, one after another.
Fear gripped the remaining Scarlet Ghosts as they scattered in all directions, shrieking in terror. Yet, the Netherlamp Behemoth's tongues shot out, capturing them with terrifying precision.
Suddenly, several of those tongues shot towards Nie Li and his group.
Ssshhh!
Upon touching Nie Li's defensive force field, the tongues sizzled and burned, retracting in agony.
Nie Li's fiendish golden eyes narrowed as he peered beyond the behemoth. What he saw in the distant void made his expression darken.
"Xiao Ning'er, attack this creature. Don't kill it, just launch it into the sky," Nie Li ordered with a grim expression.
Without hesitation, Xiao Ning'er formed a diamond shape with her fingers, gathering her soul force. Golden lightning crackled around her.
Nie Li opened a small breach in his defensive force field.
Boom!
A golden thunder pillar shot through the void, striking the Netherlamp Behemoth's massive body.
ROAR!
The creature let out a blood-curdling shriek as the lightning tore through its flesh, sending its massive body soaring into the sky. (Image)
Du Ze, Lu Piao, and the others stared in awe. The sheer destructive force of Xiao Ning'er's attack left them speechless.
However, before they could celebrate, Nie Li's eyes darkened as he gazed further into the sky.
A massive shadow loomed overhead, slowly descending from the void.
The airborne creature was Black Gold Rank, possibly even stronger. Its size dwarfed the Netherlamp Behemoth, making the behemoth look like a mere insect in comparison.
The oppressive pressure of the creature's aura weighed down on everyone. Du Ze, Lu Piao, and the others felt their bodies tremble, unable to move. Fear consumed their hearts.
Nie Li stood at the forefront, shielding them from the crushing pressure. His mind raced.
"If things go south, I'll take them all into my inventory space." Nie Li thought.
After Nie Li breakthrough to Black Gold rank level, his inventory evolved again. Now Nie Li can feel a sense of spiritual force awakening in the inventory space, but its still in infancy stage of growth.
Currently Nie Li believes that the inventory space is evolving from within. The herbs he planted there are growing more fast, more lush, more healthy. Its space has increased by many times, maybe after his next breakthrough to Legend rank, it would develop a spiritual energy source and grow into a small scale plane itself.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
The massive creature released a web-like net from its forelimbs, which shot through the sky and ensnared the struggling Netherlamp Behemoth.
The behemoth roared in agony, thrashing violently, but it was powerless against the net. The massive creature descended further, revealing its terrifying form. Its enormous claws pierced through the Netherlamp Behemoth's body, lifting it into the air as though it were a mere ragdoll.
The light on the behemoth's forehead gradually dimmed as it let out one final, pitiful wail before being carried away into the darkness.
Du Ze and the others stood frozen in disbelief.
"The Netherlamp Behemoth... was just prey?" Lu Piao's voice trembled.
The massive airborne creature paid no attention to Nie Li and his group as it soared higher into the void, disappearing into the mist with its prey.
Only when the suffocating aura faded did Du Ze, Lu Piao, and the others feel their bodies relax.
Nie Li remained calm, his mind working rapidly.
"This place... it's filled with beings that can swallow us whole without even noticing. We need to move fast," Nie Li said coldly.
The group nodded, their eyes filled with newfound respect and fear for this treacherous land.
"Let's keep moving," Nie Li ordered.
As the group advanced cautiously through the dark plains, the ground was littered with the ashes of the Scarlet Ghosts and the lingering scorch marks of Xiao Ning'er's lightning strike.
The storm continued to drizzle lightly, the mist concealing the horrors that lurked in the darkness.
But within Nie Li's golden fiendish eyes, there was no fear—only cold calculation and determination.
'I wonder if there is any human civilization here, and if yes, then how powerful the experts of this realm are?' Nie Li looked at his stats.
