Ange walked around and happened to see Old John being kicked out of a shabby house. A plump young woman chased after him and gave Old John another kick, all the while shouting "Scram, scram, scram!" with great ferocity.
After Old John staggered off into the distance, he turned around and shouted back, "I was bringing you good fortune, ungrateful wretch. A whole bag of grain, you didn't want it? Starve to death then."
The young woman picked up a stone from the ground, threatening to throw it, which scared Old John into running away with serpentine maneuvers.
The young woman tossed the stone aside and spat angrily, "Bah, you old bachelor. You think I don't know what you're up to? You think you're worthy? Come back here, and I'll smash your head in."
While speaking, she looked around and soon spotted Ange in the distance. Once she caught sight of Ange's attire from afar, she immediately rolled up her sleeves and strode towards him with a menacing air.
