CHAPTER START---
"If I ever do this again, I'm not training them to be this efficient," Horizon mutters as he sees dozens of purple Warp Gates appear before him. He also senses more of them behind him.
Horizon takes these precious few moments as the nervous Pro Heroes step onto the battlefield to open a Room.
Sensing a few familiar individuals, Buakaw and Hodori. Both wearing their usual minimalist Hero Costumes.
Then, glancing around to see many other Pro Heroes wearing reinforced and armored versions of their Hero Costumes.
'Most of the people wearing special gear are from the UK, Russia, and China, some other smaller nations too. So someone planned this much earlier than I thought.'
While they all get into position, one man steps forward to address Horizon. Wearing a skin-tight red and gold Hero Costume with a matching half-mask.
As he crossed his arms in front of his chest and looked directly at Horizon, golden flames enveloped his shoulders and hands.
"This is your last chance to surrender. None of us wants to fight you, but we can't have you avoid the consequences of what happened here," the man says in English, with a thick Chinese accent.
'Shouhu Long, Guardian Dragon,' Horizon thinks, looking up from his spot on the ground. He notices this man isn't wearing armor, and knows exactly why. His durability simply outclasses it, befitting of his Quirk.
"Well, at least I know none of my real allies were a part of this harebrained scheme," Horizon says.
"This isn't a scheme," Guardian Dragon says. "It's a matter of duty."
"No, it's a scheme." Horizon tries to push himself off the ground and stand with Sunder, but the blade shatters, causing him to drop back to his knees. "Damn it, should have listened to her."
The Pro Heroes feel a spark of hope, watching the blade shatter. Now Horizon only has the hilt, with less than four inches of steel attached.
Guardian Dragon suppresses his desire to smile, knowing better than to goad or taunt Horizon with such a gesture.
Something few other Pro Heroes have the self-control for as they feel a surge of hope at the shattering of steel.
"It's a damn good scheme," Horizon says as he forces himself to stand, shattered sword in hand. "But about the armor, my friends would have known better."
TAKT!
He controls the reinforced custom body armor and forces it to crush or pierce anyone wearing it.
They hear the screams of dozens of Pro Heroes all around them as their vitals spike.
Buakaw and Hodori rush forward to suppress Horizon from one side, as Guardian Dragon does the same.
As he charges in, the flames on his shoulders and arms consume his body, hiding his form as he transforms into a 30m -90ft- long Chinese dragon.
With red scales covering most of his body and a bright gold underbelly, fire envelops him, focused on his claws as he swipes down at Horizon.
SHAMBLES!
Horizon is forced to break his concentration on Takt for a moment as he warps away, instantly met by Hodori's claws from his white tiger form.
He warps away again, this time barely dodging a laser beam and turning to look at the woman who fired at him. Her body armor pierced her torso, but her one eye was glowing purple as she fired again.
LASIK!
Horizon instantly overwhelms her with his optic energy beam, and inches before it hits her eye, he warps away.
Dodging a beam of golden fire from Guardian Dragon's mouth.
Horizon appeared in the air, getting a look at the battlefield, only for the dragon to use the flames surrounding his body to fly after him, refusing to let up his assault.
He sees a much more entire beam of fire expelled toward him and warps a few meters away, avoiding it entirely.
Then, he swings Sunder up at the dragon's claws descending onto him.
With his broken sword, many of his abilities are limited or non-functional, but he is still Horizon.
K-ROOM!
During his swing, he unleashes his awakening one last time, shrinking the room to just barely cover the entire battlefield while forming an energy blade that mimics the physical characteristics of his sword.
His energy blade meets the dragon's claws, which then glow white hot and erupt with immense heat.
All while the physical clash makes Horizon's weary and tired bones ache.
SHAMBLES!
He warps down onto the battlefield below, and two dozen Pro Heroes instantly assault him, working in perfect sync, much to his annoyance.
'Telepath,' he realizes. 'They have a telepath coordinating their movements and attack subconsciously. That's the only way for this level of teamwork to manifest under such short notice.'
Horizon barely avoids a piercing attack from a rapier, recognizing the woman as France's #11 Pro Hero, soon to be their #2 after some deaths occurred because of Flect Turn.
'If she's here, then their #1 is the telepath, but his range is vast. So annoying,' he thinks while clashing with her blade and reaching out to her with his free hand.
Her eyes widen as his hand almost touches her face, only for him to warp away, avoiding a laser attack at the last moment.
A moment later, he appears in the same spot in front of her, and a searing heat runs through her body.
She tries to stumble back, but the sword in her gut, protruding out of her back, holds her in place.
She swings her rapier at Horizon while the panicked cries of other Pro Heroes is head, only for him to rip through her with his energy blade.
Her right hand descends toward his neck as his blade tears through her torso up through her right shoulder and slices off her sword hand.
Which he grabs before warping away, leaving the corpse to fall into two pieces on the battlefield.
It takes some of the Pro Heroes a moment to process what they just witnessed, but only a second later, they continue the attack.
Uragan, Russia's #1 Pro Hero, is first to strike, releasing a blast of lightning from his hand at Horizon.
Much to their horror, Horizon uses the newly gained rapier to block the lightning bolt, deflecting it into the ground before rushing forward.
"It's not attuned to my Quirk, and it's certainly not my style," he says while easily closing the distance. "But it'll do."
He thrusts forward with his rapier as someone fires another lightning bolt at him.
This time he drops Sunder, controlling it to float at his side while reaching out to grab the lightning with his hand.
He wrestles control of it away from Uragan in an instant and throws it behind him, hitting a man who was preparing to fire an ice beam at him, cremating him in an instant.
Uragan fails to react, seeing death in his own future. Only for golden flames to slam into their current location.
Horizon warps to safety while they shroud Uragan.
"Annoying," Horizon says while looking at Guardian Dragon, who is already charging at him, flanked by some other Pro Heroes.
Meanwhile, Uragan understands the mental command and uses his Hurricane Quirk to control the flames by creating air streams.
Soaring above and controlling the flames below him, then adding high pressure air into them, fueling them until the golden flames become bright blue, then launching it back at the dragon.
Guardian Dragon takes the attack head-on while a few others distract Horizon, and focuses these flames directly onto his four clawed limbs, causing the ground to melt into molten pits anywhere he touches them.
Of all Pro Heroes, his fire is second only to Endeavor. However, he more than makes up for it via his physical abilities. His control of flames also does not extend past his own body, so unlike Endeavor, when he launches an attack, he no longer controls his flames.
This shortcoming hardly matters, however, as transforming into a 30m -90ft- long Chinese dragon more than makes up for it.
As the Pro Heroes rally around Guardian Dragon, Uragan ascends above the battlefield. Getting out of Horizon's Room and gathering as much lightning as he can to overwhelm him.
Minutes pass as the battle continues, until Uragan is ready.
Horizon thrusts the rapier at Buakaw's back after warping into his blind spot, piercing his lungs and barely missing his heart.
But the beast of a man flexes his muscles and shatters the metal before collapsing from the electricity in the blade.
Horizon then spins around and parries a volley of lasers while rushing toward three Pro Heroes that have been acting as artillery during this battle.
'Why is he running at us?' They wonder, knowing Horizon doesn't act without a reason, especially not when warping is much more efficient.
Only for him to warp to the other side of the battlefield where a man has been down on his knees, controlling the earth of this floating island.
Subtly moving people around and building vantage points for his allies, thoroughly annoying Horizon.
He warps beside the man and stabs him in the neck, tearing apart his throat with Sunder before warping to the artillery squad to finish them.
As those three bodies hit the floor, purple warp gates appear below them. And without a blade of some kind, Horizon can't even disrupt them, giving Phantom Thief free rein to move people around as he pleases.
He looks around to see everyone else being shrouded with purple warp gates and disappearing, and for all of one second, he is confused, before thunder shakes the sky.
"Tch, you heroes really are annoying," he mutters as a massive lightning bolt descends from the sky.
Before it reaches the battlefield, it splits into hundreds of others, constantly falling like rain in a hurricane and slashing with the Barrier Horizon barely manifested to defend himself.
Horizon grits his teeth, feeling the exhaustion building while above Uragan's eyes, nose, and ears are bleeding. His heart is one step from a heart attack.
And a moment later, the attack stops as his body convulses, seizing. His brain and internal organs collapsing from the excursion as he falls through the sky toward the battlefield.
Horizon breathes a sigh of relief as the half-dead man falls toward him, only for a purple warp gate to take him to safety.
And a dozen more open as the second wave of attacks begins. Led by Guardian Dragon and Endeavor.
