"And it was on my fourth year here that I decided this was my home," Captain Lochport half-shouted, slurring his words while seemingly incapable of keeping his head still. "Those ungrateful subordinates planned a secret birthday party. A birthday party! Do you know how hard it is to keep a secret inside a small space station?"
Khan chuckled, amused by the Captain's good heart and drunken state. His cheeks almost felt sore when he sipped from his drink. It had been a long time since he had smiled for so long, and his face was readjusting itself to the experience.
"They sound like good guys," Khan commented.
"They are a bunch of outcasts and annoying kids with no other place to go," Captain Lochport snorted, steading himself to refill his drink. "But they are good kids. Life just dealt them a bad hand."
Somehow, many bottles had gone by, leading to the current situation. Captain Lochport had sat again and drunk to his heart's content, almost telling Khan his entire life's story.
