The Alchemy God fell silent under the Sword God's accusation, not because he had no answer but because he needed to reassert his own values.
From a very young age, he was fascinated by Alchemy. That fascination only increased when he received the Book of Endless Recipes.
He was born when the war was at its height, and as such, he understood just how important Alchemy was. He wanted to help everyone survive the terrible war.
That desire had at some point twisted so much that he himself hadn't realized. Before he knew it, he was ready to kill a few to save the many.
He went around the world, searching for alchemists to learn from, to steal from. All just to improve himself and his alchemy. The thing he searched for the most was the other two treasures of the original Alchemy God, but those were not something he ever managed to find.
Only after finding those books would he finally achieve what he wanted to.
