Chapter 21 - There are better people than....

I was enjoying breakfast when the intruder from last night came walking in. He raised his hands "I am sorry we got off on the wrong foot. My name is Mason, my baby sister was one of the kids that got nabbed. I wanted to know how your daughter was safe while my sister was not." I gave him a respectful look, "My cousin was kidnapped a few years back when she was in high school so we agreed to never allow school field trips ever again. So when one comes along we give an excuse that the school will believe and yank them for the rest of the week. It has been a tradition for the past ten years."

He gave me a nod and sat down not far from where I was. He watched me eat lobster rolls and wild mushroom bruschetta and wash it down with a glass of Orange Juice. I had chocolate souffle and got up to hand my assistant the catalog from Christie's for today's auction. I had marked a few dozen things that I like and was willing to pay a lot of money for. He looked over my shoulder and read the price tag on them. He gave a wolf whistle, "Are those covered in gold and encrusted with diamonds? Do you really need to get those?" I shrugged, "My money my business." He asked, "How much money do you earn?" I looked up at him, "Never ask a woman her age or her salary. Didn't your family ever teach you that?" It was Marcy my third assistant that answered. "She is close to being a trillionaire. So she has to blow it somehow." He gave a wolf whistle again, "How did you earn your money?" March answered on my behalf again, "That is classified. Please vacate the property or you will be evicted." He smiled, "I am Angie's husband. I just want to know my in-laws." Declan screamed, "Security" he was removed immediately.

I got back from work and Angie was there with Weird and Mr. Mine. I gave them a look and walked to the door. The butler took my coat and gave me the dinner menu. I walked to the living room and the uninvited guests followed me. They stood as I decided to have the cream of mushroom soup and a tomahawk steak and pea puree. And for dessert, I wanted an ice cream sundae. Angie was the first to speak, "I don't know this was our family home." I didn't let her finish, "We have twenty properties which you wavered when you got emancipated from this family. Our big brother was sick with cancer but he took care of us till he died. You were nowhere to be found. You always made the rest of us feel like we don't deserve to be loved. You were always high and mighty. You and Clara or as we call her MIA seemed to enjoy making us feel unworthy" She lowered her head in shame, "I was a horrible person. Maybe that's the reason I can't have children." Hattie came barreling in, "My prayers were answered." She looked at Hattie with sad eyes, "I am sorry for the trouble I caused you. Auntie Belle." She growled, "It's Hattie. You signed yourself out of this family ages ago. So turn around and leave before I snap my fingers and these people will snap more than your fingers." She walked away from Angie without batting an eyelash and kissed me.

Edge walked in half asleep but when he saw her his sleep evaporated. He ran to give her a piece of his mind. "So come to finish what MIA started? I remember the day you signed the document to severe ties with our family, you gave Clara the master keys and Sabrina risked her life as she tried to remove the keys and returned them to Charlie. She attacked her with a  kitchen knife. She still has the scar from where MIA cut her from neck to navel. I defended her with a poker till security arrived. They contain her till the police arrived and arrested her." She looked at us perplexed but said nothing. I flicked my finger and security asked her to leave before they throw her out. I hugged Hattie and Edge as Angie walked out along with the others.
