Ning and Matthew made their way up the mountain range while being carried by two undead. With the undead carrying them, they could go up the mountain range without getting tired at all.
Ning had his Life Sense active at all times, searching for any humans they could find.
It was entirely possible that the people stationed on the mountain as guards had not heard about the war's ending. It had, after all, only been a couple of days since then. They may not have had the time to learn about it.
When Ning and Matthew reached the peak of the first mountain, Ning was stunned to see that they had to go through a few dozen mountains before they arrived on the other side.
"Are we going to have to go through all of them?" Ning asked, confused. If this was the sort of path that was available to them, then it might have been faster to go to Largan's Pass and then take the long way around. The undead would definitely move faster on flat land than they would in these mountains.
