Maria approached Ayana when her eyes caught 17 missed calls on the screen of the girl's phone.
"Why didn't you pick up the phone? What if it's an important call?" Maria's voice woke Ayana from her daydream.
Ayana gave a slight smile. She didn't have a good feeling about the call. She thought the call was from either Bryana or her grandfather and she didn't want to talk to the two of them right now.
Ayana's phone vibrated again after a few seconds.
Ayana finally moved to a quieter place before she answered the call. Even though she didn't want to talk to them, her grandfather has accepted her mother and treated her mother kindly as one of the Luxon. She didn't want her grandfather's opinion on her to affect her mother's wellbeing in Luxon's household.
"Yes?"
"Dear, this is grandpa," Ayana raised her eyebrows, listening to Xavier's gentle voice. The man had never called her with affectionate nicknames like that. The old man always called her name in a firm and strict tone.
