Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: PAST (Part-4)

As I returned to my work and settled back into my daily routine, it felt as though I was living in the memories of the past. Occasionally, my mind would wander, and I would find myself daydreaming about the possibility of meeting the lady once more and the conversations we would have. Realizing the actual depth of my feelings that day, when I last saw her, I wished to express my feelings to her again, this time it would be a genuine confession.

Although my thoughts occasionally drifted, I quickly snapped back to reality, reminding myself that I am not expected to make blunders, as my one mistake made would cost someone else their life. Being a doctor is hard, you know. Yet, There hasn't been a single day I haven't thought about her. Whenever my mind found a moment of a break from the busyness, it inevitably gravitated towards her. On my way back home, I would occasionally take a longer route, hoping to stumble upon her by the same place where I last met her. However, luck never seemed to work in my favour, and it had been over a year since that fateful meeting.

Maybe my recklessness and lack of concern for my own life stem from being an orphan, with only my non-blood-related older sister as my sole companion. With no one to worry about my well-being, I have grown accustomed to taking risks and venturing into dangerous places without fear. I have relished the freedom to do as I please, unburdened by the responsibilities of caring for others but then there she was.

Her presence emitted an alluring aura, and her way of speaking resonated with me profoundly. It felt as though I had found someone who was similar to me and before I knew I started to long for her and eventually fell in love. I never realized that she was one heck of a dangerous woman until our last encounter. Astonishingly, I realised that I was not scared by her, nor was I concerned about witnessing a murder before my eyes! I should probably go see a therapist, but still, I was okay that it was her. I don't know what description I should give to this feeling so I gave it the name 'love'.

The sad Leo goes down a new path he has never gone before while walking he sees a park and goes to sit there. After a few sighs came, a hand on his shoulder kindly asked, "What happened, young man?"

A chill ran down my spine and I screamed "Ahhhhhh"

"AHHHHHHHH"

"Why are you screaming too?" asks Leo in surprise.

"Because you suddenly screamed so I got scared" came the response.

It was still dark without much lighting so the shadow of the supposedly a person was the only thing visible.

"It's because you suddenly grabbed my shoulder."

"I was walking by and saw you sighing so I came to ask if you were alright or not."

"I am quite okay thank you, but who are you?"

"I am just an old man who lives in this area" The old man came closer so some light fell onto his face and Leo finally saw the face of this man.

"Don't you know it's risky to stay here?"

"I was struggling to have a home in the main city, so I thought if I lived here, I would have a free home to live in. And I can say the same to you."

"Oh me? I am a fan of places like this, so I shifted myself here a few years ago."

"A fan of thrillers, I see, so by the way, why were you sighing so much young man?"

"You can call me Leo old man, let's just say I was thinking about something."

"I don't know what you were thinking about but indeed were sighing a lot, so if there is any trouble you can tell me, telling someone about your troubles can also help sometimes, you know?"

"Ah yes, I have heard it a few times."

"So is it about work or girl?"

"Haha, are those the only option?"

"These are more but a man of your age will have a problem from majorly these two."

"It is about a lady I met."

"A girl problem then!"

"Yes."

"Do you want to know how I live happily even though I am single?"

"NO, I WANT TO FIND THE LADY, I just don't know where to search for her."

"Why don't you try a shopping Mall?"

"That's the last place she will ever visit."

"If it is that difficult to find her, then, why don't you try to do something out of the world?"

"What out of the world?"

The old man takes out a very suspicious and old-looking book "Here you can find the answer to any problem in this."

Not knowing what it was, I brought that book home, as I was starving and this old man was getting more and more fishy.

[After a while, in Leo's room]

I made a circle, and some triangle designs on the sides and put four candles at equal distances exactly as it says in the book. Ok now preparations are ready, let's start with the dance.

It says one leg and the opposite hand should be in sync and I need to take reverse footsteps slowly revolving around the circle. Okay, let's start.

[After dancing for a while there seems to be some movement in the window but Leo is so focused on his dancing that he is unable to detect it. There is a shadow behind the window and now Leo took a note of it. The window shakes again and Leo's eyes sparkle.]

What kind of ghost is it? I am so excited and scared at the same time. This is so thrilling.

As the window continued to rattle vigorously, the mysterious figure's shadow grew increasingly indistinct, making it difficult to distinguish their identity. It became obvious that the individual was sinking from the rooftop, steadily approaching the window to enter the room. Leo's instincts kicked in, and he hastily made his way to the light switch, to ensure that he wasn't merely imagining the presence.

"Ms. Assassin," voiced Leo softly, getting overjoyed by the turn of events.
