Chapter 38 - Leesa and Byrant

"Hmm, okay then, I have a task for you. Make me something nice to eat," commanded Leesa.

"How come you are always hungry?" asked Byrant in bewilderment.

"Just do what I say."

"You need to do something about that appetite of yours."

"Shut up and start working."

"Alright, alright."

Byrant began preparing a dish that he believed would satiate Leesa's appetite, fully aware that even if she had tasted the world's finest delicacies, she might not find complete satisfaction. Leesa watched attentively as Byrant worked, curious to see if he had introduced any culinary innovations or refinements to his cooking.

Byrant, an aspiring chef, is honing his culinary skills under the guidance of his teacher, Paul. Under Paul's tutelage, Byrant is not only learning to create delicious dishes but also developing his knowledge and techniques in the kitchen. During their cooking sessions, Byrant and Paul work together to prepare a variety of meals. They start by discussing the recipe and ingredients, ensuring they have everything they need. Together, they chop vegetables, measure spices, and marinate all kinds of stuff, paying careful attention to detail.

Paul's expertise shines as he demonstrates various cooking methods to Byrant. He teaches him how to sauté, grill, roast, and bake, imparting valuable tips and tricks along the way. Byrant eagerly absorbs this knowledge, taking notes and asking questions to deepen his understanding. In addition to cooking, Byrant also benefits from Paul's training in the culinary arts. Paul helps him refine his knife skills, showing him proper techniques for slicing, dicing, and julienning. He practises these skills repeatedly, with Paul providing constructive feedback and guidance to help Byrant improve.

Paul emphasises the importance of timing and organisation in the kitchen. He teaches Byrant how to plan and execute meals efficiently, ensuring that all components come together harmoniously. Byrant learns to multitask, juggle multiple dishes simultaneously, and maintain a clean and organised workspace. Beyond the technical aspects of cooking, Paul also instilled a passion for creativity and experimentation in Byrant. He encourages Byrant to think outside the box, suggesting ingredient substitutions and variations on traditional recipes. By allowing Byrant to explore his culinary style, Paul helps him develop a unique flair for cooking.

Under Paul's mentorship, Byrant's confidence in the kitchen grew in just a few months. He became more comfortable experimenting with flavours, textures, and presentations. Paul's guidance and expertise provided a solid foundation for Byrant's culinary journey, setting him on a path to becoming a skilled and innovative chef. In conclusion, Byrant's cooking and training with his teacher, Paul, have been instrumental in his development as a chef. Through their collaborative cooking sessions and Paul's guidance, Byrant is gaining invaluable knowledge and skills in the culinary arts. With each lesson, Byrant grows closer to achieving his dream of becoming a renowned chef.

As Bryant plated the dish, Leesa smelled it to determine if it was edible. She smelled a delightful mix of smokiness from the grilled vegetables and aromatic herbs. It's an inviting scent that hints at a combination of earthy and herbal flavours.

"Here you are, sis," said Byrant, proudly.

He served a dish that looked like a visual feast. It featured a colourful assortment of grilled vegetables, such as zucchini, bell peppers, and asparagus, placed on a bed of fluffy quinoa. The vegetables were charred to perfection, creating an enticing grill mark pattern. The dish was garnished with fresh herbs and a drizzle of balsamic glaze, making it both vibrant and elegant.

"It actually looks appetising. Good work, Byrant," said Leesa in amazement.

"Of course, it does. Who do you think taught him, Commander?" boasted a deep voice coming closer to Leesa and Byrant.

"Oh, teacher, are you done with the discussion?"

"No, we are taking a break. The head chef had some other work to do," answered Paul, bringing another chair to sit with Leesa and Byrant.

"What was that? You certainly seem confident in my lil bro. Somewhat different from the last time I remember, hmm."

"That was ages ago."

"My lil bro grew up on you, didn't he?" smirked Leesa.

"Ahem, ahem."

"Come on now sis, eat before it gets too cold."

"Yes."

As Leesa savoured the first bite and allowed it to melt in her mouth, she discerned the delightful interplay of flavours. The smoky essence of the vegetables, the light, fluffy texture of the quinoa, the vibrant freshness of the herbs, and the subtle sweetness of the glaze all combined to create a harmonious and satisfying culinary experience.

"It's the best, isn't it? Smirked Paul.

"Ahem, ahem."

"So, sis, do you think it was sufficient to fill your stomach?"

"I am quite busy these days, so this will have to suffice. I need to leave soon."

"I understand, don't worry. I'm glad you're alright and not overworking yourself."

Just as they were chatting and eating, a familiar voice came through the main door of the kitchen.

"Ah, my lady, here you are. I have been seeking you for a while now."

"Your Highness, the crown prince," both Paul and Byrant stood up and greeted Flavian.

"Well, hello there, Lord Marlene and Paul."

"Your Highness, you know Paul?" asked Byrant, who couldn't hold back his curiosity.

"Yes, he is an excellent chef who even my head chef praises. So, how could I not know of him? Though this is actually the first time I am talking to him."

"That makes sense, I see."

"Judging from the way you three were sitting and chatting, I assume he is your culinary instructor?"

"Yes, your Highness."

Flavian nods and turns to Leesa, who is trying to finish her food. "So, my lady, have you finished your meal?"

"Yes, Sire, but why were you finding me?" asks Leesa, wiping her mouth and hands.

"Yes, I need your knowledge and support in today's meeting. Please accompany me today."

"Understood, Sire."

"See you later, Byrant."

"Ah, sis, if you find some time during the festival, please come by Paul's stall. I will be there helping him.

"Sure, I will. Bye now."

"Yeah, later, sis."
