Chapter 7 - Day 9

Day 9

6/7 > 7/7

As I am about to get out of bed, I notice that there is an added weight to my body. I look down to see Talise and Cardea cuddling into me while gripping my shirt like no tomorrow. I manage to get Talise to release me but Cardea is an issue in and of itself. Her grip was like a vice and she, for the lack of a better term, slept like a rock.

After lying there for a bit thinking about how to get out of this issue, the idea hit me. Using the trait [Elastic Bones] I picked up yesterday from the Night Viper Variant, I was able to contort my body so I could slide out my shirt without tearing it. I look back at Cardea and see her cuddling the shirt like a teddy bear. I head towards my exit to see what the weather's like today.

Aaannndddd it's raining again. Just what we needed. More rain. At least it gives me an excuse for a somewhat lazier day. I think today I am probably just going to do some renovations around my section, make some newer clothes and such with the new material I got, and definitely summon a new teacher today so I don't waste a soul charge. I really need to find a body to be the host of an [Ally] soul to reside in indefinitely depending on how the skill has changed.

I go about my daily exercise routine waiting for the two spirits to wake up. Talise wakes up just as I am about to start my meditation. She saunters over and says while yawning, "Good Morning, Master. I wish you would have woken us up earlier." I respond, "What have I said about calling me master? You can seriously just call me Kou. As for not waking you up, I wanted you two to get as much rest as you need. I do have to ask you why you both decided to climb into my bed to sleep with me."

Talise giggles and says, "That's because you did set up a bed for either of us, silly Master. Oopsie. Sorry, I forgot Master doesn't like being called Master." So Talise is a water spirit who is bubble-brained. I feel like there is a joke there somewhere. Oh well. I ask Talise, "So how do we wake up your sister over there?" as I gesture over to Cardea as she is still sleeping on my bed cuddling my shirt. She giggles and says, "Allow me to handle it."

She floats over to the bed and fires a small spout of water from a finger gun into Cardea's ear causing Cardea to jump so high that she fuses with the ceiling. Talise then stands so proudly and says, "Job done now, Master." She continues to stand like that like she was expecting something from me. Talise then pouts and stamps her foot saying, "You were supposed to pay my head like you did Sister yesterday."

I chuckle and walk over to her and pet her head saying, "Sorry about that. Here you go." Talise practically melted as I pet her and by practically, I mean she started to turn into a literal puddle of viscous water. "Sowwy Masher. You head pats feel SO GOOD." Talise fumbles out as her form is not in a stable condition.

I stop petting her and say, "It's perfectly fine that you enjoy me patting your head, but I need to finish my exercise routine. After I am done, you reform yourself, and Cardea calms down, we need to go over what we should do today since we shouldn't hunt in the rain, okay?" Both spirits respond with an okay with one being quiet and from the ceiling while the other came slurring out of a pile of slush.

{Skill [Cultivative Evolution] has purified the body of toxins and healed the body of all new damage}

{Skill [Cold Resistance] has been acquired}

That's probably from our resident slushcicle cuddling with me last night. After consolidating the info given to me, I look to see Talise has almost finished reforming herself and Cardea was fully formed but would not move from the corner she reformed in.

I walk over to Cardea and ask, "Why are you staying in the corner? You didn't do anything wrong." She mumbles something out of my range of hearing. I lean closer to her and ask, "What was that? I'm sorry but I didn't hear what you said." She shouts out while blushing heavily, "I am sorry I ruined your shirt." She then holds up the shirt I wore to bed that she used as a teddy bear. There was a small tear in the shirt.

I quietly grab the shirt from her and mend it with the needle and thread I had. I then grabbed a few of the unusable pelts I had and stuffed them into the shirt. Finally I sealed the holes of the shut. I hand the shirt back to her and say, "There we go. No one is upset. You could have told me you needed something to sleep with."

Cardea mumbles out a thank you just within earshot. Now that Cardea has centered herself, I can see that her sister has fully reformed. I asked the two spirits, "So what should we do today with the fact that we shouldn't hunt today?" Cardea sits back down and thinks while Talise blurts out, "We should build a bath!" Cardea, befitting her name, adds on "We should make this place truly feel like a home."

I ask Cardea, "How so?" Cardea's eyes shine and as if her personality was inverted, she rattles off idea after idea of how we could turn my section of the cave more homey. After the first hundred ideas passed her lips, I cut in, "Are any of those ideas good for a temporary home?"

Cardea goes from excited back to monotone and asks coldly, "Why?" I responded to her, "Well I have a feeling that we are going to be moving in a week or two." "Oh, okay then. I would only suggest making a proper bed, a storage area for all your materials and gear, and finally a bath like Sister suggested." I ask somewhat nonchalantly, "While I understand the first two, why build a bath while the pond is close by." They both respond in sync with each other, "We may be spirits but we are still both girls and the Prophet Velvet said that once we meet you, Our King, we would never have to bathe outside again."

I say to both of them, "If it is that important to you both, I will leave it's construction up to you. I just have one request. Don't make it too big that it takes up too much room in our section." Both their eyes shine with glee. They salute me and say, "Right oh, My Liege." Talise then says, "If we are doing this, what will you be doing?"

I sit down while pulling out the materials I got from the creatures I killed yesterday and say, "I am going to see what I can make from this stuff and then maybe see what I can learn today." Cardea interjects, "I suggest you open your Throne today."

I stand up, drop my stuff, and run to Cardea. I grab her by her arms and say with unknowingly forceful tone and my eyes showing nothing but pure, terror-inducing fury "How do you know about the Throne? Who told you?" Both spirits look in my eyes, seeing something almost no one else would see, fear. Talise then chimes in, "We were told about your ability with souls and spirits, along with your throne, by your prophet. So there is nothing to worry about, My King." I release Cardea from my grasp, apologize to her, and continue about my work, letting them get to remodel our room.

After a few hours of trial and error, I made a few different things.

{Gobukou has acquired [Acid-Strengthened Cloth Pants], [Acid-Strengthened Snake Scale Shirt], [Acid-Strengthened Armored Leather Greaves], and [Acid-Strengthened Armored Leather Spiked Gauntlets]}

The shirt and pants were necessary due to the fact that I wanted clothing that wouldn't tear easily while I fought anything. The gloves and boots are meant to substitute as weapons until I can craft something or the Blacksmith woman starts making gear for us goblins. It turns out that acidic blood from that night viper variant, when diluted, actually works as a great strengthening agent for cloth and leather.

Looking at all my current hunting gear, I realize that I seem to be going for some sort of druidic warrior monk. Thinking about that fact, I carefully carve the Norse warrior rune into the gloves and boots.

{Skill [Human Soul] has been activated}

{Class [Enchanter] has been updated}

{Class Skill [Enchanting] has been acquired}

Huh, new class. It seems that the [Enchanter] Class requires the skill [Runic Language] but not the [Druid] Class. It is probably because I am using an alternate system of runes that were used by druids in my previous lives. The rune has strengthened the materials further to the point that they can handle my current power.

I look up to see the changes the two made. Either they were really quiet or I was really focused on what I was making because they made quite a few changes. It seems that combining water and earth mana creates some sort of nature mana because they essentially made a small apartment out of this cave section. The walls and floors were smoothed out and covered in wood paneling. The bed, which looks to be about a queen sized one, is a literal bush transformed into a platform covered in my pelts turned mattress and blanket. In the corner closest to our exit to the outside is a decently sized stone and what appears to be marble bathtub, big enough to fit 5 full sized adults.

I look back at the bed and see Cardea and Talise sleeping. It looks like I really did zone out working on my gear. They scrunched up in the top part of the bed. I sit on the foot of the bed and sink farther than I expected. They really outdid themselves with how soft this bed is.

Hey Zelretch. How do I connect to this Throne you gave me? "You just call upon the throne and it will send you a teacher it determines you need. You have a teacher from each of the classes but only one from each class. Here's hoping you lucked out with who you call because some can be truly capricious if you catch them on a bad day." Zelretch informed me, giving me more info than what I was expecting from him.

Like always with my summonings, I focus on a soul charge and call out with my soul, "Oh great Throne of Heroes, I am in need of council with a great hero of your holding. Please send the one you believe I require." After a few minutes, I hear a rough voice say, "Why would Alaya send me here? There is nothing here in this weird room. Or did someone other than Rin summon me this time around. I can finally get away from her yelling. Damn Tsuundere."

The man has deeply tanned skin with swept back white hair and grey eyes. He is wearing a black body armor made from a special material that has yet to be discovered by mankind as of the present time, which consisted of a black tight and sleeveless shirt with silver accents which outlined his muscles and a metal plate on his collar, and black pants that had two black straps on his thighs, and another two strapped around his shins separate from each other. He wears black metal plated shoes, which appear to be attached to his trousers. His signature red coat is a type of holy shroud, which were actually two separate sleeves connected by a metal plate at the back which covered his arms and was cut off showing his upper torso and midriff, and had a separate red open skirt which ended above his shins with the top fashioned and tied with an agemaki knot, covered by a silver metal plate. It turns out the first teacher that the Throne believes I need is the Archer-Class Counter Guardian EMIYA.

I call out to him, "Hey, over here." EMIYA turns to me, scowls, and says while pulling out his twin blades, "What is going on? How can a creature like you summon me?" I sigh and say, "I got one word for ya that will explain almost everything: Zelretch." Hearing that name, EMIYA de-summons his blades and plops down on the ground and says with a veiled contempt and an unhidden exasperation, "What has that perverted bloodsucker gotten me involved in this time?" He looks up at me and finally locks eyes with me.

He then says, "I don't know why Zelretch's false throne would summon me. My skills aren't really something to be taught to another unless their magical origin and elemental affinity are both 'Sword'. You don't even have your magical circuits opened, if goblins even have any. How would I be able to teach you anything?" I respond, "I am not exactly sure how it works but if I meet your requirements, I can 'inherit' any ability you choose for me to have. You could even give me a copy of your Reality Marble."

EMIYA smirks and says, "If you agree not to be a self-sacrificing wannabe hero like I was, I don't mind passing on my Unlimited Blade Works." I say "sure" and hold out my hand to shake his. As soon as our hands touch, an ever familiar sense of pain erupts throughout my body.

{Soul Teacher Archer (EMIYA) has passed on Skill Set [Reality Marble: Unlimited Blade Works]}

{Skill Set [Reality Marble: Unlimited Blade Works] includes Skill [Projection(Trace)] and Skill [Reinforcement]}

{Skill [???] has modified the Skill Set [Reality Marble: Unlimited Blade Works] to become Skill Set [Reality Marble: Armory Of The Mind and Soul]

{Skill Set [Reality Marble: Armory Of The Mind and Soul] now contains Skill [Projection (True)] and Skill [Structural Analysis]}

{Skill [Human Soul] has been activated}

{Class [Magus] has been updated}

{Class Skill [Magecraft (Weapon)] has been acquired}

{Trait [Magical Circuits (Full)] has been acquired}

EMIYA chuckles at me as I stop convulsing and says, "It seems like the info given about you is correct, Young King of Souls. You took my Reality Marble's flaw of only allowing me to project blades with ease and erased it. You even gained my knowledge of different weapons" He then salutes me while fading away and says, "Call me if you want to spar or need a knock on the head."

{Soul Teacher Archer (EMIYA) has been revealed as a part of the ['False' Throne of Heroes]}

Following the system's advice, I slide to the head of the bed. I fell asleep within minutes of hitting the new pillow I had now. Like last night, Cardea and Talise cuddle up to me on either side.

Author's Note: Sorry this chapter was a little late. I wasn't really sure on how to do this one. Mainly because I knew this day would be a sort of "slice of life" type vibe to it and I am not good at writing those. Please tell what you think.
