Sheng Yin looked into Yu Shuchang's eyes, her rage slowly melting into something softer, something sadder.
She stepped into his embrace and wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"I'm sorry," she whispered into his chest. "I should've talked to you. I should've said something earlier."
Yu Shuchang shook his head, running his fingers gently through her hair.
"No, Yinyin. It wasn't your fault." He pulled back enough to look at her.
"It was mine. I believed what Qi Bailu said without asking you. I let my insecurities win. I should've talked to you instead of assuming the worst."
Sheng Yin smiled, watery but real, and shook her head. "We were both stupid."
"Maybe," Yu Shuchang admitted with a small laugh. "But I think I was a little more stupid than you."
She laughed too, the sound breaking the heavy air around them.
"But," he added with a teasing glint in his eyes, "you misunderstood me, doubted my loyalty. So I think you owe me something. I deserve compensation."
