After the coronation I went back to my room when the police arrived. They explained that a diner not far from here was burnt down and the only eyewitness said that I was the one who burnt it down. The vampires were insulted. They knew for a fact that I haven't left the building since Jayden was evicted. I had made it clear that there will be those who supported Jayden will retaliate. The police wanted to arrest me. So Soren had no choice but to show the detective the fake video that proves that I had been asleep for the last five days. They were speechless for a moment and called it in before they apologize for following a bad tip. The officers cussed badly as they left the building. The council of eternal night called their lawyers to sue the woman. The police decided that the woman was an unreliable witness. They found a security camera within the perimeter of the diner.
After an hour of scan footage they discovered who it was. Since the nocturnals were pissed they were shown the video of the perpetrator. The arsonist was actually Jayden himself. The footage proves that he had bribed a junkie to say that the arsonist was me. He had promised her a lot of money if she convinces the police it was me. The nocturnals promised to rip him limb from limb. The werewolves screamed in frustration wanting to know when they will be rid of him. Both the police and the nocturnals spread out to catch him.
It was the police who found and apprehended him before the nocturnals did. They interrogated him thoroughly. It turns out that Jayden saw how life was like as a human. The nine days as a human he got to realize that he took his opulent life as a hybrid for granted so he was hoping for a way to be a nocturnal again. But unfortunately the serum that he had been given had created antigens that is stopping him from becoming one. Since the nocturnals hate him with every fiber of their being for what he inflicted them out of pure spite. He knew that he needed to do something to earn their favor to restore what he now like to call his rightful life that must be restored. A life that his stupidity rob him of. He doesn't remember much about the life with the nocturnals but he did remembers how much they pampered him. He remembered how much both sides love me so he decided to ruin my reputation to prove that he is better than me. He ended up in jail for arson.
The nocturnals met him in court and promised him that if he ever tries to hurt me again then he will get the death penalty. The wolves promised to inflict a lot of pain as they eat him. The vampires promised to burn him alive. This fazed him a little but he said there is always a way to convince people. He just hasn't figured it out. Soren stepped forward to punch him and Oleg stopped him. He convinced Soren that royalty are supposed to remain calm and collected. Jayden made a very rude comment comparing Soren to a dog. Then suddenly out of nowhere Oleg punched Jayden in the face. The werewolves laughed and applauded to show their approval. The vampires were uncomfortable by Oleg's sudden urge of violence but even they smiled. Jayden saw their reaction to Oleg's response and realized how much they hated him. Ute made it clear that Jayden will live out his life as a human as punishment for the crimes against the nocturnals. The nocturnals cried out, "Here. Here."
Throughout the hearing Jayden made it clear that I was not asleep. He did this to prove that I am awake. He knows that I am ingesting poisonous stuff so no one can replicate me but there is three other hybrids. He believes that I know where they are so he can extract something from them to become his rightful self again. He remembers that I don't follow the tradition of being asleep since I am concerned I will wake up to find an army of hybrids that possessed my abilities. That was the reason he chose me. He was going to walk in pretending to be my lawyer and ask me where the others were. The prosecutor saw fit to show him the video of me being put to sleep. He jumped up in total outrage. He turned to the vampires and called them liars. The vampires swore that I was asleep. The possibility of me being awake is impossible. Finally the judge had enough and decided to declare his verdict.
Jayden kept interrupting the judge shouting that I am awake. So the judge declared that even if I am awake or asleep he had no right to destroy other people's life's work. He had wished to be human for two centuries so now he got his wish so live with it. He was treated like a king but he chose to be human. For a hundred years he has been creating problems to people on both human and immortals. Everyone was pleased that he was made human but was pissed that he had resume creating chaos and mayhem. He was advised to accept who he has become with a grain of salt. Get a job, get married and life out his life till death claims him. This made him wince. He had shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that he had no remorse for his actions. So the judge ruled that Jayden should be sentenced to ten years in prison. This infuriated him more as he was hoping that he will get some kind leniency considering he was once a nocturnal. He got none so he pulled a tantrum and was taken to holding. The vampires decided that they needed to make him forget more things so they waited till he was moved to holding to do it.
I sat at home and eavesdropped the entire conversation. Batou sat next to me and we explained what was happening. I was depressed that my Jasper wasn't by my side. Batou reminded me that he chose to use me. I said it is possible that he was forced. I am not sure that he should have been removed from his rank. Batou pat me on the head as he explained that I will find someone that I will love. When he left and I sat and cried that Jasper was away from me. I promised to defend and rescue him from what nightmare he grew up in. I want him to have a life that he deserves. I just pray that I am included in it. If I am not then at least he is happy. I can live with that. I cried for Jasper to come back to me. I only made him human to protect him him from the laws of the nocturnals. I wish that wherever he was. He would remain safe. He is my heart. Then was when I felt a wet cloth on my face and a needle on my arm. I fought hard but the darkness enveloped me. The only thought was, "Jasper! Where are you"
