I was told to let it go since I had done it involuntarily. Some of them had hurt loved ones when they first turned wolf. So they said that it didn't count and it's really ok. Suddenly we heard a whatever as a sharp response. That came from my butler's mouth. The others gave him a dirty look. I was sure he will not be joining us on the way back to Luna. At least from Logan's expression. Oleg got a call from my previous guards. It turns out they were tricked by Ute make a private army of enhanced soldiers. Abe was so furious that he had her removed from the council and replaced her with Ginger. He understood my men were tricked so he ordered that they come back to my service. I can keep the current ones and the newbies too. They call to ask where I was and the men promised to be there in a day. I told them that I will send my train to collect them after it drops me in Pearl. They promised to be at the platform and hop on board the moment it arrives.
After we disembarked the train was already recharged with the solar panels on the roof. It only needed to remain still for five minutes so it won't overheat. Soon it zipped off in the blink of an eye towards Central. We waited till they arrived. That took two hours for it to come back. The reunion was brief before things went business as usual. A werewolf in a kimono walked in and he escorted us to the city.
I swear that I had walked into the machine city. This was a replica of Otonomos. I would say that someone had recalled the place and rebuilt it brick by brick. The astronomical clock, the library, the city square, the different types of trains..."The Heck!!" I shrieked loud enough for the people walking around to stop and stare at me for a moment. I thought I was hallucinating. At least I did so till I was told by a young vampire named Wesley said that Adrian found these plans in a secret military base when he escaped. So when the design of the city was proposed Abe approved. I asked where I would staying an actual hotel or the capsule hotel. He jumped out of his skin. He asked me how I knew such a place existed. I pressed my hand on his forehead and showed him my memory. He understood what was going on and waved at the transport. It looked like a normal car but soon the top half attached itself to a metal plate that looked like a road. Then it felt like we were on board a train. We were seeing the top of twenty storey buildings.
I was told that the scientists were allowed in and permitted to create things as long as they didn't experiment on nocturnals. They are allowed to create weapons or a universal cure. They have unlimited funding. The city was built so that they can have a safe space for humans and nocturnals. The entire city was guarded by vampires and werewolves armed to the teeth. I said I had no problems with scientists finding a universal cure. By all means go ahead. In fact had I been human I would volunteer to have myself treated. But some of the scientifc community loves to create newer problems.
I was about to give an example when I was interrupted by a woman in a lab coat. She simply said, "Zombie" I turned to reply, "Actually I was going to say weaponized illnesses. A more lethal and accelerated form of Ebola. Coronavirus, Mad cow disease, bird flu, monkey pox. Genetically modified food items that gave the eater cancer. Let's not forget mixing all sorts of bacteria that has killed people in the most painful way imaginable. Should I continue?" She lowered her head as though this was one of her own personal crimes. She apologized on behalf on those that had done that. The new machine city is designed to allow the scientific mind to go to the golden ages without the nasty side effects. The city of the future is a place where people with intellectual integrity can flourish. I retorted that the previous one was not so kind. If they lacked intelligence they were discarded. So those who were unfortunately below average intelligence would be left defenseless as zombies ate them. This was something that the others knew nothing about. The intelligent one promised not to do that. All life is precious here. The werewolf promised that things are different as she escorted me to my car. The human was introduced as Kyleen the mayor of Pearl otherwise known Sirius.
I decided that I will take a once over. I ran at my actual speed and saw the entire city back to front. There were subtle differences in this city. But for the most part it was still machine city. I got back before she or anyone knew I had done anything. The vehicle was an armored modified all terrain vehicle. Below our vehicle were people were riding bicycles, electric scooters and also an electric two seater car. It was a pleasant sight to see. Children were seen doing complicated math equations on the shop windows. Women were seen trying to figure something out. I couldn't tell whether they were trying to figure if the price to size ratio is worth it or something else.
I was escorted to a capsule hotel which Oleg called the coffin hotel. I asked them to switch off the sensor in the capsule. She was hesitant so I used hypnosis. She complied and I happily snuggle into my designated space. At least I tried to before Roland said that we are not here as guests. We are here to inspect the integrity of the place so zombies won't pop up. Kyleen adamantly assured that the city is safe to which I pointed out a place where zombies were digging. Kyleen scoffed me but one of the werewolves that lived here was someone who had worked with me so he used a sort ground penetrating scanner. It looked like a lawn mower. I did mention this and everyone started to laugh. Kyleen on the other hand looked insulted.
The machine can scan about a quarter mile into the earth. They took the equipment to where I said and switched it on. They got to see these things ripping the earth and sediment out of the way. My bodyguards started to swear. Kyleen stepped forward skeptically but she saw with her own eyes she fainted. I walked up to the nearest lamp post and pressed the huge orange button. I knew if I kept pressing the button without letting go the lovely melody will turn into a siren. The melody changed to something that is sounded whenever there is a nuclear blast. This would convince everyone should to run for the nearest fall out shelter. I saw some people walk to the buildings in an orderly fashion and the metal shutters came down.
Some humans were seen running as fast as possible. They didn't come looking for answers they ran to hide. All they did was run as far away their legs would allow. While the siren was blazing I used xray vision to see that it drove the zombies crazy. They worked twice as hard. It was as though the siren gave them a boost or a sort of encouragement or something. Whatever it was it wasn't good for the rest of us. I told the others to go to higher ground. The guards ran to the nearest flight of stairs. It apparently was an easy access to a high rise. They ran till they were inside and then they made a turn till they were on a bridge that connects two buildings. They leaned forward to watch how I did things. Kyleen was staring at me like I had lost my mind.
The zombies burst out and people started to panick. I remained calm as they came out. Soon they filled the street. The funny thing was they stood a healthy five feet from me. They remained docile so I decided to go to the other side and scream them to death. I closed my shield around me and serenely walked through them. They didn't harm me in the least. In fact they behaved like I was one of them or like I was part of the landscape. I reached the stairs and screamed at the intruders. The zombies dropped dead and I kicked them out of the way and jumped down the hole. I screamed till I was sure they were all dead.
When I got out I was received by a very shocked people. My guards were grinning while Kyleen was surprised. The local werewolves and vampires were angry. I asked them why they were upset and they said they didn't know that I can do that. I said that it doesn't warrant their anger. They said that had they known I can do that they would have invited me over earlier. They asked me why the zombies didn't harm me. I said that I was human once upon a time and had a rare blood disease that these things can't bare to be near. This quelled them but not Kyleen. She escorted me here to show me the real I was here. She took me to an apartment complex. Where I was introduced to another hybrid. Her name was Lily.
