Nicole sat in her hospital room in silence. All she could hear is the sound of the machine that is beeping signaling that she was alive. In front of her was her laptop with its camera on.
She sighs knowing this would be her goodbye video to everyone she knows outside of the nurses and doctors that take care of her.
"Hi guys, welcome to my channel," Nicole said, smiling into the camera.
"Today, I'm not going to be reacting to anything. I have to tell you all that this is my last video." Nicole pauses, closing her eyes trying to calm herself.
Once calmed she opens her eyes and continues, "As most of you know, I've been hospitalized for the past four years with a rare heart condition. I originally was depressed and felt so alone learning that I would never have a normal life. I would never be able to do parkour, dance, or even move how I used to again. You all saved me by listening to me ramble about movies, shows, songs, and anything in between. I have to thank all of you for staying with me and inspiring me to keep having faith. I started this channel to share my love for entertainment with all of you. I appreciate all of you and I hope that I was able to inspire all of you."
Nicole pauses again trying to stop the tears that are falling down her face.
"Now the reason I am ending this channel is that I have met a beautiful intelligent woman who needs my lungs to survive. I met this woman at the hospital and she has become my best friend. She makes me laugh and scolds me when I am being an a-hole. She never looks sad or discouraged about her situation and I just love that about her."Nicole smiles shyly but then becomes gloomy.
"Yes, I'm in love with her and I wish I had the time to tell her that, but unfortunately she's in a medically induced coma because of an infection in her lungs. She is dying and I can save her because I am a match. I'm still too far down on the list to get a new heart anytime soon. If my organs can help her and other people then I should help. So guys this is it. Amanda if you are seeing this then I'm sorry I didn't tell you about how I feel but at least you know now." Nicole winked to the camera.
"Live life to the fullest and I will see you in heaven or the next life. I don't really know. Alright guys I'm signing off. Love yall!" Nicole stops the video then replays it.
Once she knows it's good, she logs in to her youtube account and uploads the video.
"Nicole, are you ready?" my main nurse Sarah said in a sad voice.
"Yeah, but Sarah you don't have to look so sad. I will finally stop suffering." Nicole said with a smile.
"I know, but I'm just going to miss you.", Sarah says, voice cracking.
"Come here, kid." Nicole beckons her over with her arms wide open for a hug.
"I'm older than you." Sarah chuckles and comes over to Nicole giving her a tight hug.
"Thanks for taking care of me all these years." Nicole whispers.
The two both nod and hug each other in silence.
"I'm ready.", Nicole says, pulling away and smiling at Sarah.
Sarah nods and starts setting up to move Nicole.
Once everything was set, Sarah called another nurse and they both moved Nicole to the operating room. On the way, Nicole sees Amanda's parents outside the operating room. Amanda's mother runs up to my bed and grabs my hand.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much!!" She said tears in her eyes with her husband right behind her.
"It's no problem. I have to go now. Tell Amanda to check my youtube channel please" I said holding her hand.
"I will." Amanda's father said, pulling his wife away.
Sarah finally takes Nicole into the operating room and she sees Amanda there laying on the table. Sarah stops the bed next to Amanda and all I can do is stare at her.
She looks so peaceful lying there without a care in the world.
I hear the rest of the nurses starting to prepare for the surgery and just sigh. Sarah puts something in Nicole's IV and pats her on her shoulder. Nicole smiles at her and she gives her a sad smile back.
With the anesthesia being pushed into her veins, Nicole starts thinking about the life she lived up until now.
"I guess I lived a fulfilling life. Before I was hospitalized, I graduated in business management but didn't really use my degree. I mostly traveled the world in parkour and dance competitions.
I dated a few people, but no one was serious enough to marry. I'm an orphan, so I have no family that will miss me and I rarely made any friends except for the doctors and nurses that had to take care of me. Sounds kind of sad, but I'm glad I at least was able to meet Amanda at the end of my life."
With those last thoughts, Nicole lost consciousness.
