"Thank you for bringing the two kids over."
Thomas Yates frowned, wondering if that was all there was to it. Was it just to thank him? Ridiculous, had his prior concerns all been about lamenting his own foolishness in worry? Shouldn't there be some kind of explanation?
"Who's controlling you two? Don't you care about the kids at all?"
The explanation that George Flack had just given to Ivy Grant had to be repeated to Mr. Yates.
Upon hearing it, Mr. Yates couldn't help but laugh. Such an excuse wouldn't even fool a child, how could he believe it?
So since the person before him wasn't being sincere, there was no need for him to mind his words in front of the children.
"George Flack, do you believe what you're saying? If you don't believe it yourself, why the hell are you spouting this nonsense to me?"
