Chapter 774 - Chapter 753 ( Ambush - II )

Two days flew by, time that Cloud's group used to rest, and in Meiru's case, adjust to the new weaponry.

"All set?" - Cloud asked as he saw Meiru in thought.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, all set" - Meiru replied as she nodded.

"Most likely an attack will happen while we're trying to get back to Erisen, and honestly I prefer that, so at least the city will be safe during the battle" - said Cloud as he looked around - "That's why I want you to show no mercy".

"I wasn't planning to do that" - replied Yue with a cold face.

"We are about to face Ehit's servants, mercy is not an option" - added Tio as the others who were going to fight nodded.

Shea was still a little worried that her vision could happen at any second.

"Relax, everything will be fine, besides, your vision showed that me and Shizuku-chan were going to fight, but now it's not the case, which means your vision won't happen anymore" - smiled Kaori while putting her hand on her friend's shoulder - "Putting that aside, you better get ready".

"OK" - nodded Shea as she took a long breath - "Wish me luck."

Kaori smiled slightly as she winked - "Go, I promise I'll give you all the support I can."

Cloud's strategy was simple, Shizuku and Kaori would stay behind defending all those who couldn't fight, while the heavyweights fought directly against the mad god's minions.

Cloud would be the tip of the arrow while Yue, Tio and Lyutillis would provide support from a distance, being the second line of defence.

Kaori would use the submarine's secret exits to provide support when necessary while Meiru would use the submarine's guns to attack and defend.

Cloud took a long breath as he closed his eyes, preparing the method to be able to unlock his full power if necessary.

"Are you okay, Cloud?" - Tio asked as he looked closely at the blond.

"Yeah..." - Cloud replied as he took a long breath and nodded - "I was just psyching myself up for the situation, I'm ready now."

Cloud began to steer the sub back to Erisen as he signaled Kaori to keep her eyes on the radar.

"How much longer will we have to wait?" - Eri asked as she looked around in boredom - "Seriously, we should have gone straight to attack them, we have enough power to do so."

"Yes, but our god made it clear that he doesn't want to leave enough room for mistakes" - replied Hearst neutrally - "He wants only one thing... and that is the total annihilation of the irregular's group, and it doesn't matter how many of you have to sacrifice yourselves."

Scarlet clicked her tongue as she looked around coolly, after all, she was sure that she would be one of the "unlucky ones" who would have to sacrifice themselves, though this would not be so easy.

"What are you thinking, Scarlet?" - Velvet asked with a frown.

"That we'll have to use every method possible to survive this, Velvet" - said Scarlet with a slight effeminate movement - "We both know that our probability of dying, is the highest in the group, even that human has better odds than us..."

Velvet was silent as she looked at her companions, who were ignoring their conversation, possibly because they didn't care about anything outside of fulfilling their god's mission. That was one of the apostles' greatest disadvantages, they were the definition of living dummies.

"I see you are talking about something interesting.... Would you mind if I join your conversation?" - Eri said with a huge smile.

"I knew you would join because after us, you are the most likely to die" - said Scarlet while squinting her eyes - "I want you to answer me a question..."

"Speak" - Eri said as she shrugged, though at the same time she was grateful that her fellow missionaries were Ehit's apostles, and not the knights templar of her church. She was aware of the functionality of the apostles, they were biological puppets who had managed to develop the ability to think, though this ability was restricted to just following orders and not caring about anything else.

They were the perfect warriors, they were completely loyal and followed orders to the letter, ignoring everything that had nothing to do with their mission, although this had its bad points, such as the current situation. Eri, Scarlet and Velvet were discussing how to survive, and Ehit's apostles were ignoring them because this talk was not hindering the plan, in fact, the only person who was seeing this as a danger to the mission was none other than Freid, the former general of the demon army.

"Is this all right, Hearst-sama?" - Freid asked with a frown.

"You mean the conversation of those semi-apostles?" - Hearst asked as he looked at the trio conversing - "They can do whatever they want, as long as they don't intervene in the mission, because if that should happen, then they won't have to worry about our enemies killing them, I'll do it myself."

"I understand, I'm sorry to have interrupted you" - Freid said as he quietly withdrew.

Hearst looked at the trio before turning his attention back to the sea.

[Hearst, the target is approaching...]

"Understood, Ehit-sama" - muttered Hearst firmly before looking around - "Attention, our god has sent his divine message telling me that the irregular is coming! Everyone, be ready for the attack!"

"Cloud, the radars are picking up something!" - Kaori exclaimed, though her expression changed when she saw a huge light appear in front of the submarine.

"Yue!" - Cloud shouted earnestly.

"I know," nodded Yue as she created a barrier around the submarine. This was done so that the attackers would think they could attack the sub after Cloud and the others came out to fight.

Cloud was the first to come out, being followed by Tio and Yue, finally Lyutillis, who was the most rusty.

"I didn't expect this reception" - Cloud said as he looked around and noticed 20 silhouettes flying around, many of them similar, though 4 people stood out.

"At last we meet, irregular" - said Hearst as he took a few steps forward.

"Ehit's apostles..." - grunted Cloud as he feigned surprise - "I guess your master couldn't resist any longer..."

"My god wishes for the death of your entire group, irregular" - said Hearst as he snapped his fingers.

The apostles began to glow as a dome surrounded everything around a kilometre away.

"I see you're ready..." - Cloud said disdainfully as he looked at the apostles that were different, noticing how three of them were familiar - "Eri Nakamura, I don't know why I'm not surprised."

"What can I say, I have to pay for Ehit-sama fulfilling my wish" - Eri replied with a small smile.

"Yes, but I don't see you happy to have fulfilled your dream of being with Amanogawa" - Cloud answered with disdain - "Doesn't he treat you well?"

Eri's expression darkened because that was true, her relationship with Kouki was not what she expected, but she was sure it would improve as time went by.

"The general of the demon army, Freid Bagwa," Cloud said as he looked at the man who had changed drastically since the last time he saw him, "From what I see, you managed to overcome the corruption of my poison."

"I don't know what kind of attack you used, but this time I won't go down so easily" - replied Freid neutrally - "I swear on my honour"

"We'll see about that" - Cloud replied with disdain, finally settling his gaze on the last person who was familiar - "Cattleya, no, you're not her..."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, irregular, my name is Velvet and I'm one of Ehit-sama's apostles" - Velvet replied with a small smile - "I hope you'll show me some mercy."

"I don't see why I should, you're not the person I made a contract with, in fact, seeing as the resonance between us doesn't exist, I'd like to assume that you even devoured her soul when you took possession of that body" - Cloud said with a frown.

"Indeed, that was the quickest way to be able to get all her knowledge" - smiled Velvet as she narrowed her eyes - "Was she important to you? Maybe a lover?"

"Not in the least, it's just that I was thinking that killing you would be a good way to repay her for all the work she did as a spy" - Cloud replied as his gaze darkened because even though Cattleya was tied up in a contract, she was technically part of his team, and while there were no feelings between them, he was furious about her death, mostly because she had done an excellent job - "That's why you'll be the first to die".

Velvet's expression darkened because she didn't expect this kind of reaction, more from a guy who claimed he had no feelings for the woman she usurped the body - "That's illogical"

"Indeed, but I don't need to be logical when I want to avenge the death of someone on my team" - Cloud replied with a huge grin as he signalled the system to activate the protocol to unleash its full power. He wanted to get this over with quickly, and while he was at it, he wanted to see if he could open the door to Ehit's dimension to kill him once and for all.
