"I can't believe she's throwing me out like this. Tch!"
Akira and I looked at each other. He was looking rather uncomfortable, while I knew the truth behind Gena's grumbling.
"I said nothing." Without even glancing, Gena said to us. To Akira? Mostly probably. Because he was staring at her quite keenly.
"I don't understand your anger right now, Gena. Weren't you always applying for one of these missions to tag along? Your wish was finally seen and heard!" Akira tried cheering her up. Bless his soul. Because that wasn't her problem. We were.
"I better not talk about it, Akira. And lemme nap until we reach the location." Gena said in a soft voice. Her hat was pulled down and she fell asleep quicker than me finding Cyrus.
Oh.
Cyrus.
I hope I can meet him in the future. Or perhaps, when I'm on my mission right now.
The truck dropped us with survival kits and a Goon bag. It's a small satchel, built with 5D technology to store infinite items in another dimension. So you end up carrying just the satchel!
I was the one without any luggage, so the satchel should be handled by...
"I don't trust any one of you with that." Gena snatched the government monitored satchel from Akira. He looked confused.
"I'm not a child though. I know what I'm doing?" Akira said.
"Why do sound so unsure...?" Gena was on the brink for no reason.
I rolled my eyes at their banter. Seems like it'll be non stop for awhile.
We walked en route for 12 minutes precisely. Just then, I halted in my footsteps.
"Halt." I held my closed fist up.
"Do you sense something?" Akira asked, I nodded. A tree had just been shuffled from a long, long distance. But I knew better.
"INCOMING!"
That's a flying type SHIFTER!
"Holy Mother—" Akira landed on the ground, faceplanting into mushy forest gunk!
"GIMME THE SATCHEL GENA! NOW!" Shouted Akira. Gena was pretty much mesmerized by something else.
I lifted my sword, gazing at the flying Shifter clad in venomous green all over it's scales and wings. The wings - razor sharp. It had thorns for hooks to pierce it's victim as it feasts midair!? Crazy.
"Don't forget," I took a glance at Gena on the ground, her barely paying attention to what Akira was screaming, "Shifters have the same human tendencies as they once were as humans."
And this one...was venomous. It was a criminal.
"OOMPH—!" I let the huge thing grab onto me. I could've swung my sword, but something stopped me. Something wasn't right.
"THE STRONGEST HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED! GIMME THE DAMN SATCHEL RIGHT NOW, GENA!" Akira screamed and strut to her, but Gena put him at arm's distance.
"No! You're irresponsible and don't deserve the weaponry to use in there!" Gena fought back, "You could kill her!"
Akira, then understanding why she wasn't allowing him to go near the satchel, lost his temper.
"I'm trying to protect you! But you just have to act difficult, don't ya!?" Akira's outburst silenced Gena. She stared at him hard. Just to say...
"I am not givinb this satchel to you."
Akira lost it.
"Oh my GOD!"
With one hard tug, Akira got hold of the satchel against Gena's wishes. He plunged right in, while taking beatings from a frustrated Gena.
"You. Are. A. Scumbag!" She yelled with every hit.
"STOP IT!" Akira then pulled out something humongous. Something that shushed Gena forever.
"Oh my God..."
Pure carbonfiber technology, even the bullets defied the laws of physics.
"Whoa..." I couldn't handle my excitement either.
CLINK, CLINK, CLINK
The zooming lens leveraged out on command. The eight foot, 30 pound humongous beast of a machine gun sat right on Akira's shoulder.
"Get ready, beastie."
Akira smirked, because he knew he won the war already.
And that was my cue to get the hell off this thing!
The Destroyer was charging up, taking up elements from the atmosphere near it to blast high density laser bombs at the target. Laser bombs, you might wonder.
Well, extremely condensed packets of lasers with an unstable core, suitable to turn any large object into a mere cloud of atoms. That's the power of the DESTROYER.
"OOMPH!" Akira fell back when the laser bomb shot across the air! A blood curdling scream from the Shifter followed. I watched in gory awe as it was dismantled into mere...particles.
The Shifter was gone.
But...
"Hnng...!"
*thud!*
"AKIRA!"
