**Five Years Later**
I walked out of the doctor’s office, a frown tugging at my lips. It was unexpected news, that’s for sure.
Sighing, I got in the car and headed home. I’d have to worry about breaking the news to Lucas later.
I drove through Winter Forest to the cabin Lucas and I designed for ourselves and our family. It wasn’t much of a cabin. A five-bedroom, three-bathroom home was a lot more than a cabin.
Lucas was in the kitchen chopping vegetables. He glanced over his shoulder at me.
“Hey, you’re home.”
He leaned away from the cutting board and kissed my cheek.
“What’re you making?”
“There’s a chicken in the oven. With two hungry teenagers… I hope it’s enough.” He tossed the veggies in a pan to saute them.
“Can I help?”
“Hunter and Willow are working on their homework, but I haven’t had a chance to set the table yet.”
