Chapter 23 - No need! That's too low-end!

------------Stark Tower-----------

Sōugo and Tony stood together in front of a complex array of scientific instruments. Various holographic displays projected data about an unknown energy source.

"Listen, the problem is understanding the fundamental properties of the nebula gas. We need to analyze its composition before we proceed further," Tony said as he picked up a tablet and scrolled through a series of equations. "I think it contains a unique form of atomic instability. What do you think is the best approach for harnessing it? Extreme compression?"

"Decomposition and refactoring," Sōugo replied, placing his hand on the console. The holographic data fluctuated for a moment before stabilizing into a clearer model of the gas's molecular structure.

Tony raised an eyebrow. "That's an interesting way to put it. If we can break it down and reconstruct it in a controlled manner, we might be able to create a new energy source."

"Shrink the containment unit," Sōugo suggested.

"Of course, I've considered miniaturization. But making it stable in a portable form is another challenge entirely."

"I think the current approach is too conservative."

"You believe it can be smaller?"

"Certainly."

"How small are we talking?"

"Approximately the size of a 20 ml bottle."

Tony began pacing the room, his mind racing. "If you're right, that means we could manipulate it at an atomic level—maybe even nanotechnology could be involved."

"Yes, but the safety risks are still uncertain."

"We'll figure that out. Once we refine the technology, we can revolutionize energy storage. I could even integrate it into my other projects..." Tony mused. "This could be groundbreaking."

Tony placed a sample of the nebula gas into a containment chamber. Before he could analyze it further, a white light flickered as the gas was momentarily destabilized. Sōugo recalibrated the system, holding a device in his hand that looked like a modified energy stabilizer.

"Is this the core unit?" Tony asked.

"No need for extra stabilizers or containment fields," Sōugo assured him.

Tony scrutinized the data. "The energy signature is unusual. This isn't like anything I've seen before."

"It's directly linked to a system I've been researching," Sōugo said, handing Tony a small belt-like device.

"What's this?"

"I call it the 'Transformation Belt Sclash Driver.' In short, the 'Sclash Driver.' Attach it to your waist."

Tony hesitated but followed the instructions. "Alright, now what?"

"Insert this capsule into the driver. Then, press the activation lever on the right side."

A mechanical voice announced: "Robot Jelly!"

Tony blinked in surprise. "Why does this thing have sound effects?"

"It's part of the system design. Now stop complaining and activate it."

With a skeptical expression, Tony did as instructed. Unconsciously, he assumed a stance as if preparing for a duel.

As soon as he activated the device, a cylindrical containment field formed around him. The gas inside reacted instantly, surrounding Tony in a viscous, metallic fluid that solidified into a protective armor-like structure. The transformation was seamless, as if the energy had been molded into a tangible form.

A powerful voice announced: "Tsubureru! Nagareru! Afurederu! Robot in Grease! Buraa!"

Tony looked down at himself, examining the new suit. "This is incredible. The energy structure is completely reconfigured at a molecular level. How does it work? Bioelectric signals? Neural synchronization?"

Sōugo smirked. "The guidebook will explain everything. You can figure it out yourself."

"Fine. But you know me—I won't just use this. I'll improve it."

Sōugo merely chuckled before turning away, leaving Tony already deep in thought about further modifications.

------------Hell's Kitchen-----------

When Sōugo arrived at the clinic, he found Steve Rogers waiting for him.

"Nick asked me to run an errand. He wants to see you. I think it might have something to do with Stark."

"How about $10 million an hour? Chief Nick?"

"The Fuc.k!" A voice suddenly came from the phone on Steve's waist.

"Alright, I was going to send you an invoice for 10 million."

There was a pause on the other end before Nick Fury's voice responded, "There's also a late payment fee of 50 million..."

"Deal," Sōugo replied with a smirk.

A short while later, Sōugo arrived at the S.H.I.E.L.D. International Reception Center. Nick Fury, wearing his signature eyepatch, extended a handshake before sitting down. Coulson poured coffee for both of them, handing Sōugo an espresso.

As they sipped their coffee, Fury got straight to business. "Shall we discuss the invoice or the real issue first?"

"Invoice first," Sōugo replied.

After briefly going over the financial matters, Fury leaned forward. "We know Stark has been working on new technology, but we're not interested in his armor."

"You're after him."

"S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded by his father."

"If you bring that up with him now, he'll reject you outright. You need to convince him yourselves. I'm not his father, and I'm certainly not his handler."

"We know he won't listen. That's why we're here. What do you think of our initiative—a team of individuals with unique abilities?"

"The idea is good. But it depends on who they serve."

"S.H.I.E.L.D., of course."

"And who does S.H.I.E.L.D. ultimately answer to?"

Fury frowned but chose to bypass the topic. "We want you to join."

"I'm just an ordinary person. I can run a few kilometers before getting exhausted. I can't even jump higher than 50 centimeters."

"Are you taking me for a fool? We've observed how you operate. You appear and disappear at will, and you have an understanding of technology that surpasses our current research. A certain neurologist even claims you threatened him—with a flip phone."

"Do you believe in unexplored scientific phenomena?"

Fury exhaled sharply. "We've seen enough to know that there are forces at play beyond conventional science. Are you part of that?"

"I'm just an observer. But I can give you a lead in exchange for my freedom."

"A lead about what?"

"Energy anomalies in New York. I believe you have the resources to detect disturbances at a satellite level. There are places where the connection simply vanishes."

Fury frowned, deep in thought, as Sōugo leaned back. He knew that, in the grand scheme of things, the Avengers would be necessary to handle upcoming threats. He had no intention of dealing with intergalactic conflicts or enhanced supervillains on his own. But for now, he would play his part and let the pieces fall into place.
