An Xiulan was unable to sleep after Lu Xun hung up the call. She sat near her bedroom window, her knees drawn up to her chest, gazing out into the still night. The sky outside was unusually quiet, painted in shades of blue so deep they felt suffocating. The silence wasn't peaceful but it was haunting.
Sleep was the last thing on her mind.
Her thoughts were restless, circling endlessly without landing anywhere. So much had been happening, and but, all her mind could focus on was Han Zixin. The absence of his voice, his presence, everything…it was starting to choke her. She missed him terribly.
It felt like she was trying to breathe through water. Every breath was heavy. Every beat of her heart hurt.
