As the drop of Naamah's blood was applied to the inside of one of the protective covers outside of the view of Zeph and Rex, he did not know the exact number of false targets or exactly where they were being sent. All Zeph was told was that Rex's dislike of the telapod pad and terminals was taken into consideration, but they would have time to go through it to the first floor, as that was their starting point.
Attempting to put a proper collar on Rex proved to be a challenge that pitted Rex's speed and stunningly fast reflexes against the Zeph's intelligence and ability to coordinate with Samyaza who Rex found difficult to outrun. Zeph was sure that if they had been in a larger more open space they would have had to make use of wing power to catch Rex.
