Amon waited until the door mechanism completed its sequence. Once the door slid all the way into the wall, the rumbling stopped. Silence returned. Amon stayed still as he focused his hearing from the now-revealed opening. No sound. It was complete darkness beyond the open door.
He picked up one of the debris on the ground and threw it into the opening. He heard the debris hitting the floor and bouncing a few times.
No traps.
He then approached the door. He remained fully alert at all times. He extended one of his hands through the opening. When nothing happened, he took his first step inside. He paused. He had taken all the precautions. It was time to take a leap of faith. He entered the room.
It was a room not as large as the great hall he came from. The limited light provided by the bright flare stone in his hand was enough to illuminate the entire place. It was an enclosed room. The door he came in from was the only entrance and exit. He saw several pedestals in the room.
