Elena, noticing his incredulous expression, smiled bitterly in her heart, realizing her teachings were going to become a hindrance to him. So, she wore a solemn expression on her face and said,
"Listen, Eric. The path of cultivation is ruthless and unforgiving. While, as a human being, it's important to be considerate and kind to others, especially to those weaker than oneself, one should never show mercy to or pity one's enemies. As your father used to say, 'Showing mercy to your enemies is the stupidest thing you can do.' And since we are not to be merciful to our enemies, there is no need to feel guilty. After a moment of silence, Eric heavily nodded, "Yes, I understand, Mom."
"Good. Now go in, take a bath, and come to the dining room for dinner." Elena smiled, ruffling his hair.
Nodding his head, Eric went inside the house after smiling at Hannah, who had been standing awkwardly by their side all this while.
