"Pants... Kira, we need to make it to the next location before dawn," Laurel said, her voice laced with urgency.
Laurel slumped to the floor, exhausted. "I'm tired... I just can't do this anymore. It's too much for me."
Kira's expression turned determined. "Yes, you can. We do this for our family, for those who sacrificed so we could live. Giving up isn't an option, Laurel."
Laurel looked up at Kira, her eyes searching for answers. "Where would we go? We need a safe place."
"We'll find one," Kira replied, her voice firm. "We have to. The fate of the world rests on our shoulders."
Laurel snorted. "Our shoulders, huh? I hope we've made enough progress this time. I don't plan on moving anytime soon."
Kira smiled wryly. "Me neither. It's almost time for the Black Moon."
Laurel's expression turned serious. "We've waited a long time for this. Let's find a more secure place this time, so we won't have any disturbances."
Kira nodded. "Do you remember the legends of the land that was promised to the chosen?"
Laurel's eyes lit up. "It says only the chosen can locate it. 'At the ends of the earth shall the sun rise forth, smite and calm, keeping me at rest until the day I become one with my inner one.'"
Kira's brow furrowed. "What does this mean?"
Laurel shook her head. "I don't know. This has been passed down since the time of the first elders, waiting for the fulfillment of the prophecy."
Kira's eyes narrowed. "The sun... sun... sun... Desert. Yes, most likely." She repeated the word "sun" several times, trying to connect it to the desert. "The sun and desert, they're connected, aren't they?"
Laurel thought for a moment. "I think so. The desert is a place of extreme heat, just like the sun."
Kira nodded. "Exactly! But what about 'smite' and 'calm'? Which desert calms and smites at the same time?"
Laurel thought for a moment. "I think it should have vegetation and a little source of life, since it calms, right?"
Kira nodded. "Most probably. I wish I knew where it is."
Suddenly, the air grew cold, and Kira began to emit blue wisps. Laurel panicked. "Kira, why are you giving off blue wisps? Stop doing it, you're too weak!"
Kira's eyes went wide. "I don't know what's going on, I don't know how to stop it!" Her voice was laced with fear as her powers began to surge out of control.
Laurel grabbed Kira's shoulders. "Focus, Kira! It might be leading us somewhere."
Kira's eyes glowed blue, and she drew a map of the location they were supposed to go to – an irregular triangle inscribed in a giant star, with a little star in the middle. The glow stopped, and Kira stumbled, almost falling to the ground.
Laurel caught her just in time. "Don't worry, Kira. I've got you. Your body is too weak to hold this kind of power by yourself."
As Kira's eyes continued to glow, Laurel could see the fear and uncertainty in them. Kira's powers were trying to go out of control, and she didn't know how to stop them. Laurel held her close, trying to calm her down.
"Kira, focus! You need to control your powers," Laurel whispered, trying to keep Kira's eyes from glazing over.
But it was too late. Kira's eyes rolled back, and she began to faint. Laurel held her tight, trying to keep her upright.
"Don't worry, Kira. I've got you," Laurel repeated, trying to keep Kira's powers from consuming her.
As Kira's body began to sag, Laurel knew they had to get out of there – fast. She looked around, trying to find a way to stabilize Kira's powers.
But for now, they were on their own, with no one to turn to.
At least now we know where we are going to stay and feel secured till the black moon comes. .
Finally we wouldn't have to worry about disturbances....
