[Name: Talonflame

Level:20

Type: Fire, Flying

Nature: Bashful

Ability: Flame Body]

...Fuck

DAMN IT, Rotom how much time does Treecko have?

"Bzzt, I'm not a medical Pokemon but... I would say less than an hour"

...

Why? Why is this happening to me? What did I do?

First, my entire world and everyone I loved or knew is gone, then I'm dropped in this... god-forsaken world, but no, that wasn't enough, now one of my only companions is on their deathbed because of this bird that came out of nowhere

*sigh*

I tried my best to calm down, to suppress this feeling of rage simmering down my skin, but no matter what, I just couldn't, I wanted to do nothing more than rush at that Talonflame and slam its head with a rock until it's brain splattered.

But all that rage instantly died down as a cold feeling of dread settled down in my gut as I looked at the unmoving Treecko. I had to think rationally, if I rushed this, it wouldn't just be Treecko dying, but all of my team.

My life is inconsequential, I value the lives of my team members more.

Calm down, Raging about this won't do me any good. Let's see the situation and devise a plan for now.

First off, Ditto is nowhere to be seen. I assume Ditto will not help me in any Pokemon battles, and so it has most probably disappeared. I understand not helping me in any battles, but couldn't it have at least treated or carried Treecko to safety?

Glancing at the status of the Talonflame, I start formulating a strategy. If my knowledge is correct, Bashful is a neutral nature, which means it's impossible for me to figure out what moves this damned bird possesses from the status alone.

I glance back at my team. A Marshtomp and a Rotom, both of them at level 16. A level difference of 4 does not matter much when both Pokemon are high level, but a difference between a level 20 and level 16 is astronomical. However, both my Pokemon have 512 in all EVs. I also possess two Pokemon, both having a type advantage over Talonflame. I glance at the moves my team possesses and formulate a plan.

Okay

Let's hope this works

"Treecko come back"

A red light emerged from my Pokeball as Treecko converted into a red stream, entering the Pokeball. Pokeballs have an emergency feature to treat injured Pokemon. It won't heal Treecko, but it will do the job.

I looked at the Talonflame, who didn't attack me till now. Not only did this fucker destroy my home, endanger Treecko, but now it has the audacity to look down on me? this fucking bird...

"When I'm done with you, I'll personally splatter your skull"

*Twoo*

Instead of being enraged or mocking me, it merely scoffed at my threats as if they were nothing more than empty words. Just wait you smug bastard, we'll see who stays smug till the end.

"Rotom, turn invisible"

"Bzzt"

Exclaiming, Rotom immediately vanishes from plain sight, as I turn my eyes over to Marshtomp who looks back at me. A silent glance of understanding passed between our eyes as it faced Talonflame.

"Marshtomp, Rock Throw"

*Fwoo*

Without saying anything, Marshtomp immediately fires a block of rock (boulder) at the Talonflame.

Rock-type moves are 4x effective to Talonflame, there's no way the Talonflame would just tank the move. It would definitely avoid the boulder, and when it does, I can initiate the first part of my strategy

*Skree*

I expected the Talonflame to just dodge the boulder, after which I would have predicted its trajectory and attacked it with Rotom.

Unfortunately for us, this was real life where battle experience played a huge role. Screeching, Talonflame immediately rushed at the boulder, and instead of avoiding it like I thought it would, It grabbed the boulder, spun around, and hurled it back at Marshtomp.

Though surprised, Marshtomp immediately dodged the boulder and proceeded to immediately shoot a blast of water at the Talonflame who had no problem avoiding the move as it immediately rushed at Marshtomp in a burst of speed.

"Mars-"

There was no time for me or Marshtomp to exclaim anything, as Talonflame rushed at Marshtomp with a burst of speed far surpassing the speeds it had previously shown. Tackling the Marshtomp down it released a screech as it opened its beak to try and bite down on Marhstomp's neck.

Tried.

Before it could do anything, I immediately rushed in and kicked the Talonflame off the Marshtomp he squawked before flapping his wings and flying upwards towards the sky, as it flapped menacingly at us.

"What the fuck? Does he know Quick Attack?"

[Quick Attack (Japanese: でんこうせっか Lightning Speed) is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation I. The user lunges at the target to inflict damage, moving at blinding speed. This move always goes first.]

Damn it, not even the first move, and my plan was completely shattered. This Talonflame was experienced, a newbie like me who never had to worry about anything greater than school exams has no way to somehow outsmart a veteran fighter

The Talonflame stopped flapping as it faced down towards us closing its wings. With a gust of wind, It immediately started swirling as it spiraled towards us at Mach speeds whipping the air around it as a tornado appeared around the Talonflame.

Upon looking closer, I could see a small glow covering the beak of the Talonflame, meaning it most likely used the move 'Peck', a move super effective to Marshtomp. If this move hits Marshtomp, it won't end with something simple like a -100 HP, but with a hole in Marshtomp's head.

[Peck (Japanese: つつく Peck) is a damage-dealing introduced in. Peck deals damage with no additional effect, besides being able to hit non-adjacent Pokémon in triple battles.]

my mind immediately went into overdrive from the rush of adrenaline. From what I remember, this is an accident that happens a lot to athletes. Had I not been in a life-threatening solution, I would have appreciated the beauty of a slowed-down world.

Even in a slowed-down world, the Talonflame was still moving in a rush. I moved my eyes around as I looked around, my mind going into overdrive as I did my best to find a way to reverse this situation

And in that moment of desperation, I had an epiphany

'Please work'

The world around me returned to its original pace as I immediately turned my eyes to Marshtomp and shouted with all my willpower

"WATER PULSE"

A blast of water emerged from Marashtomp as it headed towards Talonflame, who simply snorted at such a move. It immediately ducked under the blast of water with ease as if it were as easy as breathing

But

It fell for it

Before the Talonflame could react, I immediately took out a rock from behind my back and hurled it at full speed toward the Talonflame. By the time Talonflame regained its bearing, a stone flying at Mach Fuck struck its head, prompting a cry of pain from the Talonflame.

Taking advantage of its pain, I immediately shouted a command to Rotom.

"ROTOM, ASTONISH"

Rotom immediately appeared in front of the dazed Talonflame out of nowhere, covered in a purple aura as it tackled the Talonflame at its full speed with its pointy head, stabbing the Talonflame's torso.

[Astonish (Japanese: おどろかす Astonish) is a damage-dealing introduced in Generation III. Astonish deals damage and has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch]

*SKRAA*

The immediate appearance of an enemy would usually overload one's survival instincts freezing them in place. The same happened to Talonflame who screeched and immediately stopped as Rotom appeared out of nowhere covered in a purple-like aura. instantly tackling the Talonflame.

Truthfully, this was a risky move. Astonish only had a 30% chance of inflicting Flinch on an enemy Pokemon. In the case of a surprise attack, only a normal person would freeze up, however, trained veterans or fighters with enhanced instincts will subconsciously retaliate in the form of a devastating blow surpassing the limits of the body.

This Talonflame has fought and killed before. Had the Talonflame not flinched, it would have immediately attacked Rotom based on its instincts. Though, in that case, Rotom would have immediately shocked Talonflame.

Rotom immediately flew away from the frozen Talonflame, and it tackled the frozen Talonflame immediately popping one eye. Immediately after, Rotom started glowing yellow as it rushed at Talonflame from the back.

However, due to the high level of the Talonflame and, most likely, its experience in dealing with Flinch-inducing moves it recovered in merely a second. However, a second is more than enough to determine the victor in a life-and-death battle.

"Rotom, use Thunder Wave"

[Thunder Wave (Japanese: でんじは Electromagnetic Wave) is a non-damaging Electric-type move introduced in Generation I. Thunder Wave paralyzes the opponent. Paralyzed Pokémon have a 25% chance of not being able to attack, and their Speed is decreased by 50% (75% in Generations 1-6 ).]

A normal person would immediately use a damaging move in this situation. The young me who removed all status moves in favor of only highly damaging moves would have done the same, and that is the exact reason why the young me would have lost and died here.

A damaging move would be nice, however, this may very well be the only time Talonflame lets its guard down. In this case, a move like Thunder Wave would be the best possible move to ensure more chances of damage.

Rotom immediately heeded as it started glowing yellow, releasing electric waves point black at the Talonflame, as it immediately started spasming uncontrollably. The Rotom then vanished as Marhstomp immediately appeared and shot a rock at the Talonflame.

As the Talonflame spasmed, Rotom immediately took action. Covering itself in a purple ghostly aura, it fired off a beam at the paralyzed Talonflame as stars appeared around the Talonflame's head with its eyes swirling around.

[Confuse Ray (Japanese: あやしいひかり Eerie Light) is a non-damaging Ghost-type move introduced in Generation I. Confuse Ray causes the target to become confused.]

Instincts kicked in, as Talonflame desperately tried to regain control over his body and roll out of the way. With immense willpower, it somehow managed to roll away, narrowly avoiding the boulder. However, it did not escape unharmed.

Below the rock, lay a wing of Talonflame completely squished. The Talonflame weakly stood up with a squawk, now only possessing one wing. Fire appeared in its mouth as it hobbled up weakly, likely one last attempt at securing its life.

'That's it?'

I thought so looking at the weekend Talonflame. Back in my old world, Pokemon battles lasted entire episodes. Battles lasted entire chapters in the Pokemon Manga and fanfics I used to read. I half expected this battle to last for an entire 40 minutes but this... this was too fast.

'This is real life'

I knew that, but somewhere subconsciously in my brain, I refused to believe this world was real. I thought using the knowledge I possessed I could get by comfortably, but witnessing this brutality... Let's finish this battle first

Upon witnessing the sorry state of Talonflame, I hesitated. This is the first time I've hurt another living being to this degree. Witnessing the sorry state of this bird wavered my heart as I thought about sparing the poor thing for a moment.

"Marshtomp, Rotom stop"

Of course, that feeling only lasted for a moment.

This Talonflame almost killed Treecko, I cannot let it live. I steeled my heart for what I was going to do to this Talonflame.

"Bzzt, are you sure you can handle this?"

"Rotom... There's someone behind this"

"..."

"A Talonflame this experienced... there's no way for this to be a wild Talonflame. Someone powerful is targeting me, and this most likely won't be the last attack. I won today, but who knows about next time? If I truly wish to live...I have to stop hesitating"

"..."

"This world is dangerous, and the path I'm heading down is even more dangerous. My life will be at risk at every turn. So to answer your question Rotom, No"

"Bzzt, what?"

Bending down I grabbed a small rock from the debris surrounding me as I moved towards the Talonflame with shaking hands. The Talonflame as if sensing something wrong started Screeching at me trying to intimidate me.

"I'm not ready Rotom"

I lift the rock

"But I promised myself, I'll splatter this bird's brains"

and bring it down

"SKRAAA"

The Talonflame screeched as I smashed the rock on its head. a mixture of red blood and white brain tissue started flowing out as its movements slowed down.

But mine didn't

Up

Down

Up

Down

Up

Down

The Talonflame tried to lift its chin, as it opened its beak to shoot fire at me. Before it could, I slammed my hands down on his beak, closed them, twisted it-

-and ripped it off

"SKRAA-"

Up

Down

Up

Down

Up

Down

U-

"MARSH"

Snapping out of my stupor, I look down, as I see the Talonflame dead. No, at this point there was no way to know if this was a Talonflame. Its eyeballs were completely smashed. Its skull was completely battered and flattened, dyed with the color red. Its body was completely squished from my body weight. It looked like a bird crushed by a hydraulic press

Shakily I stood up, and I gazed down at the dead Pokemon. I should have felt disgusted, regret, loathing, or any form of emotion, but I felt nothing. There was no 'cold stare', no 'revelation', just nothing.

"That's what you get for harming Treecko"

I spit at its corpse. Look who's looking down at who now.

...

Any more curses that I wanted to utter were silenced by the sound of faint sirens. The fact that the authorities and Heroes appeared only now is not an accident. Whoever orchestrated this is someone with very high authority.

The young me would have wallowed in despair, after all, what exactly could I have done against a person of this level? I would have broken down and lived every day of my life in paranoia. But, with this gift, The System, be it a terrorist, a minister, or even the president, no one will stomp on me anymore.

My train of thought was broken as I heard the sirens getting closer to me. I don't trust these Heroes coming to "rescue" me right now. I may be paranoid, but I believe the best way for me to live is to get out of here and find some actual help.

I take out my Pokeballs as I take back Marshtomp and Rotom.

"Let's get out of here"

I opened up my system, as I pressed the dungeon button, vanishing from this world.

[{Chapter End}]

A/N: First fight scene YIPPEE

I did not forget about the dying Treecko.

Will Treecko die? Well, that completely depends on the type of character development I want for Matsumoto. So, I'd say 50/50

Don't be mad if he dies though.
