"Ashley Benson will you carry your lazy self downstairs for breakfast" her mum shouted from downstairs
Ashley was in no way ready to get down from her comfy position to go down and take lectures from her mum on how long she has been unemployed and how urgent it is for her to find herself a man. She had a shapely figure,slender eye brows and her eye lashes were velvety, she would generally be described as beautiful if she took care of herself more rather than sleeping and eating every time,most times people wonder why she hasn't been obesed yet.
"Mum can't I just stay in bed a little while longer "?? She asked
"No ash, get down here or I'm going to get you myself and you know you are not going to get down in one piece by then" she replied
Ashley knew her mum was in no way lying about what she said so she reluctantly got up and went downstairs.
"Morning Mrs benson" she said
"Yeah morning lazy ass" her mum replied without looking up.
"We will be going to say hello to your father later, it's been long we visited" she said serving Ashley her breakfast.
Ashley already knew that the rest of the day would be a bit awkward with her mum trying as much as possible not to cry. It's been two years already since her dad passed and it hasn't been one bit easy for them.
"You know you can cry mum if that would make you better" she said trying hard enough not to break down in tears too
"I miss him very much ash, I miss him very much"she mumbled amidst tears.
Ashley got up and went over to hug her mum,she knew they both only had each other and she was willing to do anything to make her mum happy again. Mostly why she hasn't gotten a job yet since she's scared that she might become too busy to spend time with her mum during this period of grievance.
"I know mum and I miss dad too" she replied consoling her mum.
Ashley knew she had to start looking for a job sooner or later to support her mum or things would become really difficult for them, so she started submitting applications to various companies.
"Ashleeeey" her best friend Vivian screamed on the phone.
"Yeah what happened, what's wrong Viv? Why are you crying"?? She asked really worried
"Ash he broke up with me this morning" she replied crying
" I really don't know what I did Ash, no explanation, no nothing Ash, he completely gave me zero reasons for wanting to break up"
" What do I do ash I really can't stay without him" she said intensifying her cries
"Hol'up, he did whaaat? Is he crazy or something? I'm really not going to take it easy with him" Ashley vibrated on the phone
"Seriously I'm going to beat the living daylight out of him, who does he think he is to treat you in that manner!!! Is he crazy??? Ashley shouted more on the phone.
"I'm going to make sure he doesn't see the dawn of the day by the time I'm done with him "
"Uhmm Ash, that's murder though and you can be sentenced to life for it" Vivian said sniffing
"Well I might just beat him up a bit and then let him be" Ashley replied calming down a bit
"Yeah let's do that "Vivian said
"But wait, uhmm which of your boyfriends are we talking about Viv"she asked
"Is it Micheal"??
"No"
"David"?!
"No Ash"
"Damian "??
"Noooo josh" Vivian said crying again
"Uhmm I thought you said you weren't really in love with him " Ashley asked
"I still have to cry since it still counts as a break up Ash" she replied
"Alright alright, come to the house later let's plan on how to deal with him ok??" Ashley said
"Alright I will, bye " she said
"Bye love " Ashley replied
Ashley knew from the onset that Vivian only flirted with guys and she really did not have any serious stuff going on with any of them but still had to react the way she did because Vivian was really really dramatic and wouldn't take it lightly with her if she didn't take matters like this seriously.
She smiled and went back to what she was doing
"Ashley you are going to be late for your interview today, why aren't you up yet "?? Her mum asked removing the duvet she used in covering herself
"What's the time mum"?? She asked sleepily
"It's almost 8:30 and your interview is by 9:10" her mum replied
" Oh my goodness I'm going to be late " she said getting up almost immediately and hurrying to take her bath.
"Mum why didn't you wake me up earlier, I'm going to be late" she shouted from the bathroom
" I did love but has there been any day you woke up early"?? Her mum replied going downstairs
Ashley dressed up immediately scattering her clothes in almost every corner of her room, contemplated on leaving her hair down or packing it up and then settled with leaving it down, applied a little lip gloss and some mascara before hurrying downstairs.
Ashley took a piece of toast and almost bolted out the house with her mum trying to check if she was properly dressed and if her face was ok. She flagged down a taxi and off she went.
She arrived at Leo group of companies at exactly 9:10 and she was almost out of breath from rushing almost everything this morning. She once again checked out her clothes before entering the company.
She was given number 25 and was told to wait for her turn. Looking around she realized that there were actually so many persons applying for the job and somewhat felt intimidated a bit.
"Ashley Benson"?? The lady called
"Yes I'm here" she said standing up
" You are next, please enter the second room at your right hand side" she said directing her
" Alright thanks ma'am"
" You are welcome"
"What can you do for the company and where do you see yourself in the next five years"? The man with glasses asked her
"In five years, I want to complete the internal training program for my position. I've read about it on your website, and I think it's a fabulous program. Not only would I get all the training for my role, but I would be on the fast track to becoming a project manager. That's my top career goal. Plus, my ideal path would include working abroad for a couple of years. I understand that it's of value to you to find people prepared to do so". Ashley replied.
Looking at the interviewer's face one could see he was satisfied with her answer. Ashley was asked to resume work the following day.
"Hello, my name is Ashley Benson and I'm the new intern assigned to this department" Ashley said to the head of the department
"You've been assigned to the CEO's office" she said without looking up
"I…I thought I was assigned here ma'am, what happened " Ashley asked uneasy
" The CEO's secretary quit this morning and a temporary one is needed till further notice " she replied
" Go to the 12th floor, the third door by your left is his office, knock before entering though if you want to survive " she said finally looking up
Ashley really felt uneasy about the whole stuff but had no choice than to go to where she was assigned to. She knocked thrice but got no response from anyone inside and she decided to go inside.
"Who said you could come in" someone said facing the other way.
" Uhm.. sir I knocked thrice but got no response, I'm sorry sir" she replied
"Go back outside and wait till I say come in" he said almost shouting.
Ashley went back outside and stood for almost 5 minutes before hearing a deep voice saying come in.
Ashley went inside only to see the most beautiful creature on earth, she stood transfixed while looking at the person sitting in front of her.
His hair was really dark,his shirt clung to his body showing how built he is, one or two buttons were left open showing the hairs on his chest, going up to his face, Ashley saw he had chiseled jawline, man was beyond handsome, he was beautiful.
"When you are done drooling, you can come over and introduce yourself" he said smirking
" Oh yeah…. Uhmm… I'm Ashley Benson and I've been assigned to your office sir" she said trying to compose herself.
" Let's see if you can survive for three months here, if you do then you'd be given a permanent position here in this company" he said walking up to her.
Ashley could see he was really tall, man was dangerously handsome.
" Yes sir, thank you sir " she replied.
" Meanwhile you'd have to get here before I do every day, get me coffee and make sure it's still hot by the time I enter, get my schedule ready and always be on standby because we will be traveling frequently" .he said
" Alright sir" she said taking them down
" You'd equally be in charge of getting my breakfast, lunch and probably dinner depending on how long I spend in the office "
" Go to my table and compile the documents according to the date and time then photocopy them three copies each" he said walking back to his chair.
"Ashley get me a cup of coffee "he said using the intercom.
In a haste to attend to his demand, she bumped into someone spilling the hot coffee on her shirt.
"Why didn't you spend the whole eternity getting me coffee" her boss said not even looking up for once.
"I mistakenly spilled some of it on my body and I had to clean up my shirt before bringing it over. I'm sorry sir " Ashley said head bent.
