Cain had already completed three of the four steps required to achieve the Second Level of the Indestructible Herculean Technique. If he succeeded in mastering the final step, he would gain a body impervious to attacks from ordinary Peak Divine Transcendence Masters—a tremendous boost in both endurance and defensive might. Of course, such durability would still be far from sufficient to withstand the full onslaught of a Third Realm life form, but it would remain a pivotal advantage in any high-stakes confrontation.
Unfortunately, the last step of the Second Level demanded an infusion of Law of Life into his body, providing a surplus of vitality that would trigger a qualitative change in his cellular structure. Although the World Tree Sapling in Cain's Inner World had granted him a fundamental familiarity with many Laws, his grasp of the Law of Life was nowhere near deep enough to accomplish this transformation. Completing that requirement in just three months was simply impossible.
