Laughter echoed for several seconds before the trio finally calmed down. A faint smile appeared on Cain's face as he shook his head. "That was a good joke," he said softly.
"Yes, it did ease the mood," the Sky Sovereign agreed. Although Apex's suggestion moments earlier had sparked their merriment, both Cain and the Sky Sovereign knew right away it was never meant to be taken seriously.
After all, even if Cain somehow managed to locate every faction before Reverend Madness could claim them, everyone already knew he had come here to kill them all.
Cain had earned a notorious reputation, antagonizing many powerful individuals. Admittedly, in the face of an apocalyptic threat like Reverend Madness, previous enmities could sometimes be set aside for the sake of survival.
