Cain threw his head back in laughter, the sound echoing across the scorched battlefield. A moment later, he shook his head and flashed an amused, almost silly smile.
"Of course, I'm kidding," he said, voice laced with mockery. "If you really want a reason… it's simple. Killing you will make me stronger. And since you're vile, ancient, and solitary, I doubt anyone would care—much less seek vengeance in your name."
The Sorcerer's eyes twitched at the words, fury bubbling beneath his aged, cracked skin. Was this child truly mocking him—he, who had lived for millions of years, ruled a vast underground network, and inspired fear in the hearts of an entire continent? And yet now, he was being spoken to as if he were a mere animal about to be slaughtered.
"You little brat! You know nothing of this world!" the Sorcerer roared, his voice thunderous with indignation.
