Susan pushed up her glasses and asked seriously, "Luke, how did the interrogation go?"
"Not well, he won't confess."
Susan had guessed this possibility but still couldn't help asking, "Does anyone have a way to pry open Markway's mouth?"
The deputy said, "The poisoning case led to five deaths and one injury. The harm is too great and the charges too severe. Even if he confessed voluntarily, he would be sentenced to death.
If he does not confess, there is still a chance to fight in court, albeit slim, there is still a glimmer of hope.
So, it's not surprising that Markway made this choice."
Susan pressed on, "Deputy, with your experience, what do you think we should do?"
"Actually, getting him to confess voluntarily isn't entirely impossible.
I think there are three ways. The first is if someone he cares about is also involved in this case. To avoid getting that person involved, he might confess voluntarily.
