Chapter 9 - chapter 9

The mayor, who had just recovered, handed a sketch of Tang Yan to his male secretary. "Can you get me information about this person?"

"Sir, since when do you sketch so well? This is a masterpiece," the secretary exclaimed in surprise.

"Don't ask too much. This person seems to be connected to those people," the mayor replied.

"You mean the people of the Devil City?" the secretary asked.

"Yes, he was able to enter my soul consciousness and get rid of the ghost spirit in my body just by appearing. But the strange thing is, he asked me to pay him a fee for the help," the mayor explained.

"How much?" the secretary asked.

"He just said a little yuan, and not an actual amount. An envoy of the Sky Floating City recently messaged me before my sickness, saying that some people from the Devil City have descended into our power plain," the mayor said.

"So you suspect him to be part of them?" the secretary asked.

"Enough of your questions, time is running out. Who knows when he'll come back for me?" the mayor said, chasing his secretary away.

It had to be said that the relationship between the mayor and his secretary was more like brothers.

Meanwhile, Tang Yan arrived home, trembling and pale. He himself couldn't tell what was happening to him, since after the reconstruction of his body and organs, he had been weak.

"Big Brother, you're home," a small, cute voice sounded.

Tang Sisi, who had just dressed in a blue princess dress, ran towards Tang Yan, seeing him come in. Tang Yan felt an indescribable feeling within him.

Ever since he transmigrated into his present body, he had only seen his siblings as normal kids to play with, and not entirely as family, because of his lack of understanding and feeling of family.

Although the reason he fought the previous night with the hooligans was because of their disrespect towards his words and the face smack on little Tang Sisi's face, he just felt a deep anger for an unknown reason.

If it was his past self, he would have tried playing a little more with them and dealt with them indirectly, instead of doing it himself.

"What about Miss Shu?" he asked with a strange face.

"Since when do you address her as Miss Shu? I thought it was Madame Su, Brother," Tang Sisi looked at him with a mischievous smile.

Tang Yan coughed, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Mrs. Su, who wasn't far away, heard this and turned away with her face red.

"Alright, quickly go and assist Miss Su. Also, don't allow anyone to disturb me, since I want to rest," Tang Yan instructed Tang Sisi.

He then sat on his bed, crossed-legged, trying to figure out the difference in his reshaped body. Tang Yan further began to try to sense his soul power, if it was already in check, but to his disappointment, it still had a strong resonance the moment it came close to his subconsciousness.

His reshaped body was also highly sensitive, making him very uncomfortable, but at the same time excited, since he would be able to sense Qi more efficiently from his surroundings.

"It's a shame that my evolved bones, which were good, had reverted back to their normal white luster, only with a little enhancement to it. According to my understanding from my memories, when one has strong soul power or Qi, it can be used to tamper with the body and brain. Since my bones are already good, I should proceed in tempering my body first. Even after sealing my soul, it seems like it's still hard to prevent its flow."

Then again, it seemed his Nascent soul had evolved into an immortal soul, surprisingly. But why did he have such a method to guard against a situation like this in his memory, or was he just overthinking it, since he had plundered many martial art sects in the past?

"Sigh, I sure miss the feeling of robbing those despicable bastards."

Meanwhile, at the Lu family's villa, Lu Ding sat in a seemingly well-taken-care-of courtyard surrounded by Qi-gathering arrays at each corner of the villa, making the whole area densely filled with Qi.

"Young Master Ding, Miss Rouxue wishes to have a word with you," a young man in his forties, well-dressed in a white long customer's pitch robe, came in with a slight bow.

"Sigh, let her in. Also, you don't need to maintain that etiquette when it's only me and you, hear Uncle?" Lu Ding replied solemnly.

"Alright, I'm already used to it, so it might take a while to adapt to Nephew's request," the young man answered with a silly smile as he turned around to invite the young lady in.
