They say that the shattered glass can cause seven years of bad luck. They're not completely wrong, however, they're not right either. It's not random bad luck it's souly based on the duplicates, shattering our reality can cause us to corrupt, leading to the humans reflection to become altered. Their reality would shift, it would become a cross between our world and there's. They don't play by the rules, they're the ones who destroy their world, staring at the broken pieces only makes it worse, pick them up, throw them away. Don't touch it with your bare hand, don't give them the connection.
They don't deserve the contact. Even we fear them; they're the uncharted version of both our worlds. You can see your world, and ours... you can't see there's, you know it's there but it doesn't actually exist. Not while you're awake. Shattering us, scatters small partials everywhere, you can't pick up everything, some get stepped on, tearing through the skin, connecting you to eachother.
Bad luck?
Bad luck doesn't exist in either world. Luck in itself doesn't exist. Your actions shape your reality and the experiences you hold within your reality. You think that the cut from the glass is harmless, "T'is but a scratch" right? Wrong. There's no escape. You can't be freed, not even one's death can help, you're bounded to them, they're one with you. Like fish to the sea. You live there and die there.
You're bound with your mistakes for life, you may change, and move on, but the past still remains. You still did that. But by not doing that would you still be who you are today? Humans believe in petty things like "fate" and "true love". You may love someone, how is it true? Is there such thing as false love? By that knowledge there must be, right? Love for you isn't love for us, we can't have love. It'll corrupt our cover. Ruin our image... literally.
The Unchartered are the doppelgangers of us, not you. They have all our wants, regrets, and pain... everything we don't want, they do. They're who you see when you walk past shop windows. It's not a physical door, your supposed to be able to look through it, not at yourself, looking through windows doesn't alter your reality at all. Only changes it for another human the other side of the window.
Look outside now, you can see your neighbors homes... but if you look closely, you'll see the faint reflection of yourself staring lifelessly, right back at you. You loose the focus and they disappear, still existing. Just not visible.
There's nothing you can do.
A mistake you made, dropping a 'door', scattering shards everywhere. Was all that was needed to haunt you for eternity.
