Chapter 30 - 27. Les do it

It was noon. All of us stood together weapons in hand at the crest of a small hill overlooking the vast Larissa plains, golden wild wheat glistening in the sun. It was a beautiful day, I thought to myself. But my thought was suddenly cast from me as Apollo speaks, his shorter than average build and golden hair glowing in the sunlight.

"They will be upon us soon, let us get into place." He said already moving. This was our land; our territory and I would be damned if I didn't force the others to make full use of it. Moving toward a tent behind me a smirk creeps up on my face. There were at least a hundred traps covering at least a mile in every direction in front of us along with ambushes and flanks setup to spring into action from behind them. We knew where they would land thanks to Apollo somehow being able to see them traveling in the Bifrost so once they arrive it's going to be a bloodbath.

Moving the flap out of the way I enter the tent, Kara greeting me in a passing glance as she continues to work, conducting last minute tests on the many Necromechs I plan to unleash on the unsuspecting Asgardians. The one she was working on, her finger morphed into a screwdriver, was opened up, its intestines in clear view. It was a large metal... mech except it wasn't piloted by a person it was done by a primitive AI capable of minimal strategy. I'm honestly not a big fan of Ai's which is why the next versions would be even bigger and controlled by pilots.

'Maybe Titanfall mechs would be cool.' I absently thought as I sat down at a table, crude wooden figures imitating troops and locations strewn about it. Back to the Necromechs, they were obviously from one of the best games of all time, Warframe, but they aren't too strong if I'm honest. They had a cannon on one hand a tower shield on the other, capable of ripping organic matter from itself, a normal human would probably be eviscerated if they even touched the barrel of it, kidding. But I'm betting an Asgardian who, from what I know, are at least double as strong as a peak human should only be able to take one or two shots from the big ass cannon arm especially given the fact all the soldiers coming from Aagard are going to be heavily armored.

A loud hum resonates trough the tent as the mech closes its hatch and stands up promptly exiting.

"My calculations did not account for how flimsy they would be my lord. Their limbs are too slim and weapons too heavy causing strain on the whole body, it's only a matter of time before they destroy themselves." Kara said standing up her screwdriver finger folding back into her hand. She was still wearing her assistant outfit a tight pencil skirt with a white loose blouse and her brown hair tied into a tight ponytail she really looked cute if not hot. Walking up to me she simply stood there and waited for a response.

"I know, but they don't have to last past today, after this we can take time to workshop and improve their design but not today." I say.

Closing my eyes I lean back, the chair creaking under by weight, and I try to relax, to think.

Let's be honest, I could probably kill Odin if I went all out, but if I did that not only would it lead to unintended casualties but also ruin future relations with Asgard. I didn't really want to kill him. He was an important person in the universe, a prince of Asgard, a kingdom quickly rising on the universal scales of power, plus he would eventually spawn three awesome individuals who I would rather exist than not.

Which means I have to find a way to not only deter him from invading earth, but also create an amicable relationship that leaves the possibility for talks in the future.

I could always fight him in single combat, defeat him, show him mercy and then we become the best of buds later on. But what if he's stronger than me, we're fighting a war and one of his domains is war so he should at the very least be a little bit stronger than normal. Or what if he hates me, I'm not really sure about his personality right now as young Odin was never shown in the movies.

"Kara, I would rather not kill Odin, his father is a Creator God and in the future he'll be very important, how do you suggest I go about winning the battle while also not irreparably damaging our relationship for the future?" It was a throw away question since I doubt she would come up with a better solution than me since I knew more about the situation than she did but another opinion can't hurt.

She looks at me as her light spins yellow for a moment and then speaks, "The only way I see that happening, my lord, is if you prove yourself in combat. From what I know of the Asgardians it's that they are a very war like people, valuing sword skill, honor and dying a good death above all else. I am to assume that their prince wouldn't be so different." She said calmly, accurately feeling what I was feeling.

I'd have to show him that being friends would be a good thing, that I was equal at the very least.

A horn sounds in the distance, the clattering of metal intensified as soldiers rush to and fro. Well not like I can just sit here and think about it forever, time to put it to practice.

...

...

"ARE YOU READY?!" Her voice booms across the small clearing, over a thousand silver soldiers stood, spear and shield in hand as they wait. All of them arranged in wall like formations they look formidable.

"To fight in service of great lord Hades! To take life in his great name! TO RIP AND TEAR UNTIL RIVERS RUN RED WITH THE BLOOD WE SHALL SPILL!" She screams her tone feverish and volatile. The soldiers react screaming their approval and rhythmically slamming their spears into their shields shaking the very ground they were walking on.

In front of the imposing army stood a woman of small stature but emanating power. She was wearing her own silver armor made personally by Hades. It was tight and form fitting but looked sharp and solid with pauldrons on her small shoulders and not an ounce of skin showing underneath the armor except her pretty face and golden hair. On her back were a pair of skeletal wings spread wide in dominance yet felt graceful instead of frightful.

The soldiers continue their song the woman seeming to gain satisfaction at them so eager.

"ARE YOU READY!?! To spread his greatness to these heathens! To let them know who he is! TO MAKE THE RAIN FALL, RED! " The crowd goes wild the thunderous clanging gaining evermore volume and fervor the dirt vibrating and the air heating up as they continue to chant. The leaves of trees starting to rustle, the wind blowing more rapturous; until with the raise of her balled fist, they fall silent. Not even an acorn dare to drop until she speaks again.

"So... I ask you, are you ready?"
