Chapter 4 - Skills & Abillities

[Boon]: This is your Golden Finger—your ultimate advantage.

[Copy]

You have the power to replicate any ability, skill, or knowledge from another person, provided certain conditions are fulfilled. You may choose to copy a power in full or partially, selectively filtering out any undesired side effects or mutations.

For example, if you copy Mystique's shape-shifting ability, you can choose to retain or discard features such as her blue skin.

Conditions:

Abilities that fall within Peak Human standards or below can be copied instantly just by observing the target.

Abilities beyond Peak Human level will require either direct physical contact or access to a DNA sample to be replicated.

Enhance & Merge:

If you acquire multiple abilities of similar nature, the system allows you to merge them into a single enhanced power. Weaknesses from the original abilities are compensated for, and the resulting power may exceed natural limits.

For instance, if you copy Pyro's fire-manipulating ability and another fire-based power, you can fuse them—removing Pyro's dependence on an external flame source and granting the ability to generate fire autonomously.

Okay. Damn. This system is broken in the best way possible. I can literally copy powers from anyone I meet. Just imagine—every powerful ability from every powerful being, all concentrated into one person: me.

[Abilities Panel]

This panel lists all your active abilities or powers. Not only does it keep track of what you've acquired, but it also ensures your control over them never weakens—even if you go years without using them. They remain fully retained without degradation.

Current Abilities: [Soldier's Physique]

Soldier's Physique:

The user possesses a body honed by intense physical and combat training on par with elite military standards. This includes enhanced strength, stamina, endurance, pain tolerance, and combat reflexes, developed through years of discipline, survival, and battlefield experience. A soldier's body built for war.

Hmm. Nice! This Abilities Panel is going to save me so much time. Any ordinary human would need to train endlessly just to stay in shape, but I don't need to worry about that. Huge time saver.

[Skills Panel]

This panel displays all your learned skills. Like the abilities panel, it ensures your mastery stays intact regardless of use. You won't regress even if you go a long time without practicing.

Skill levels range from 1 to 10, with level 10 being the peak of human capability. Skills can be enhanced past this threshold, but doing so will require significant effort and breakthroughs.

Current Skills:

English – Level 7

Cooking – Level 3

Rifle Mastery – Level 6

Military Combat Techniques – Level 7

Skill Descriptions:

English Proficiency: You are highly fluent in the English language. With more study and exposure, you can push this skill to English Mastery.

Cooking: You're an average-level cook. Your food is barely edible, but hey, it's food. With consistent practice—and a few episodes of food poisoning—you could upgrade this to Cooking Proficiency, and eventually, to Cooking Master.

Rifle Mastery: You are highly trained in the use of rifles—long-barreled firearms engineered for precision. You understand ballistic behavior, weapon maintenance, and situational engagement.

Military Combat Technique: You've been trained in hand-to-hand and close-quarters combat methods developed by the military. This includes incapacitation techniques, lethal strikes, and reactive defense—all allowing you to respond with appropriate force depending on the threat.

Alright, System—give me the basic rundown of my current situation.

[Basic Info]

You are currently being held in a Hydra facility.

You are classified as a prisoner of war. Your entire regiment has been wiped out. All members were subjected to experimentation by Dr. Arnim Zola and subsequently killed. You are the sole survivor.

The current date is November 3, 1943, the height of World War II.

On this very day, Captain America and the Star-Spangled Singers are scheduled to perform a morale-boosting show in Italy.

This performance will be Captain America's final stage appearance, as portrayed in the films. The crowd won't be impressed by the performance.

Following the event, Steve Rogers will be informed by Agent Peggy Carter that members of the 107th Infantry Regiment, including Bucky Barnes, have been captured by Hydra.

Later that same day, Steve Rogers will disobey orders and single-handedly storm a Hydra base to rescue Bucky and the rest of the captured 107th.

Hmmmm...

So, what should I do?

Oh, I know exactly what I should do. Tomorrow presents a golden opportunity. Before that I must copy skillsy from the Hydra soldiers and the captured soldiers

*Few Minutes Later*

Under the cold dim lighting of the Hydra facility, Magnus sat silently against the far wall of his cell. The faint hum of old machinery and distant echo of booted footsteps were the only sounds breaking the stale silence. His sharp eyes, dulled only in appearance, scanned every inch of his surroundings.

Night fell quietly, and like clockwork, the other captured soldiers drifted into restless sleep—worn out by torture, starvation, or sheer hopelessness. But for Magnus, this was when his real work began.

Under the guise of stillness, his eyes moved from man to man—each soldier, a veteran of war. Each one carried fragments of skills honed through hardship, drills, and survival.

Now's my chance.

He activated his boon.

[Copy – Active]

His gaze locked onto a grizzled corporal, unconscious and snoring faintly. A faint shimmer pulsed in Magnus's eyes as information surged into his mind.

[Skill acquired: Battlefield First Aid Lvl 5]

[Skill acquired: Handgun Handling Lvl 6]

He turned slightly, focusing next on a wiry young comms officer.

[Skill acquired: Signal Encoding Lvl 4]

[Skill acquired: Tactical Awareness Lvl 5]

One by one, soldier after soldier, he gathered what they unconsciously offered—ranging from knife techniques to radio interception, battlefield endurance to field surgery. His head throbbed from the input, but he gritted through it.

This is nothing compared to what I went through before.

The dull pain reminded him he was growing stronger.

Once finished, he turned his attention inward. Eyes shut, mind focused, he began silently recalling everything from his past life. Every drill. Every maneuver. Every bullet dodged and every target neutralized. He merged it all, mentally refining his edge.

A subtle flick of his wrist, a soft twist of his torso—every movement controlled and deliberate, as if shadowboxing in a whisper. His body slowly awakened muscle memory long buried, fine-tuning posture, angles, and striking zones. It wasn't just practice—it was integration.

By dawn, the system responded.

[New Skills/Abilities Gained via Copy + Past Life Integration]

Combat-Medical Proficiency – Lvl 6

You can tend to battlefield injuries swiftly and effectively, using limited resources under high-pressure conditions. Includes triage assessment, bullet removal, and emergency stabilization.

Mixed Martial Arts Mastery – Lvl 9

An advanced fusion of various combat disciplines including boxing, judo, wrestling, and Krav Maga. Emphasizes real-world efficiency, fluid motion, and adaptability in unarmed combat.

Close-Quarters Combat Mastery – Lvl 8

Optimized combat technique designed for tight spaces and enemy proximity. Enhances reaction speed, disarm techniques, silent takedowns, and kill/disable precision in constrained environments.

Firearm Proficiency – Lvl 8

Mastery over various firearms, including pistols, rifles, and submachine guns. Covers aiming, recoil control, quick reload, maintenance, and firing under stress.

Stealth Movement – Lvl 7

You can move silently, hide effectively, and reduce your presence in almost any environment. Ideal for infiltration, ambushes, and escaping detection.

Situational Awareness – Lvl 7

You have a heightened sense of your surroundings. Enhanced ability to detect movement, anticipate actions, and analyze environments for threats and opportunities.

A small smirk tugged at the edge of his lips as he reviewed the upgrades.

Now that's more like it.

He felt sharper—faster. No longer a prisoner, but a predator biding his time. And tomorrow, Captain America would be storming this base.

Magnus flexed his fingers, feeling the readiness surge through his veins.

When that shield crashes through the gates… I'll be ready.

Now, the real game begins.
