"Spider-Man, wanna play with me?"
The Green Goblin swooped down on his glider, hurling pumpkin bombs midair. Doctor Octopus stepped forward, blocking many of them with his mechanical arms. Still, the Goblin used the chaos to rush Strange and snatch the Box from him.
Doc Ock lashed out with his tentacles, grabbing the glider, while Strange reacted quickly, using an energy whip to yank the box back.
The Green Goblin severed the tentacle and made a temporary retreat.
As Strange prepared to cast a spell with the box in hand, Peter—sharp-eyed as ever—spotted a pumpkin bomb hidden inside and shouted, "Stephen, watch out—!"
But it was too late. The bomb detonated in a fiery explosion.
Stephen was unharmed, of course, but the Box was obliterated. The spell sealed within—Kafka's Incantation—burst forth uncontrollably. Even worse, the massive shield held by the Statue of Liberty was struck by the explosion and came crashing down!
The scaffolding around the statue shattered into pieces. MJ lost her footing and plummeted from above. Peter (Holland) raced to save her, but the Goblin's glider slammed into him midair, knocking him away…
Watching MJ fall helplessly, Peter (Garfield) was struck by painful memories of Gwen's death. Without hesitation, he dove after her.
This time, he didn't fail. He caught her just in time.
As they landed, Garfield's eyes welled up. The heartbreak he had buried clawed back up, raw and fierce. No matter how much time passed, he couldn't let go. Maybe he never would.
"You okay?" he asked softly.
…
Meanwhile, Stephen was in trouble. He tried to re-contain Kafka's Incantation, pouring tremendous effort into it, but he failed.
As brilliant magical runes erupted into the sky, the night cracked like shattered glass. Rifts opened across the Sky, raw and jagged like festering wounds.
Beyond those rifts lay bizarre, kaleidoscopic realms, and within them, indistinct figures loomed, watching this world like curious hunters eyeing new prey.
Seeing this, Pietro couldn't help exclaiming from off-screen, "God, is this the end of the world? Why does it remind me of that giant eyeball from the quiz punishment?"
"No—wait, that eyeball was way creepier… And Stephen, seriously? The Box was that fragile? And how did you not notice there was a bomb inside?!"
Stephen's face darkened. He had just claimed he could fix the situation—and now this. Shaking his head, he muttered, "You don't know crap about magic! Those rifts... they represent multiversal collision. Trust me, I can still clean up this mess!"
On screen, Stephen was doing his best to repair the sky, but progress was minimal.
At the same time, Peter (Holland) was in an all-out brawl with the Green Goblin. Clinging to the glider, he found a pumpkin bomb and blew the thing up, sending both of them crashing onto the massive fallen shield by the sea.
Fueled by rage, Peter launched at the Goblin. He knocked him down and straddled him, punching him again and again, each blow charged with fury.
The Goblin was absurdly durable—anyone else would've had their skull smashed in. Still, even he was a mess by the end of it, bruised and bloodied, barely able to stand.
But Peter wasn't done. He picked up the wrecked glider—its frame heavy and now equipped with bladed edges. In the original timeline, both the Goblin and his son died by this very weapon. Peter was ready to end it the same way.
Just as he raised the glider to strike, Peter (Tobey) suddenly appeared, stepping in front of the Goblin and holding up both hands to stop him.
As someone who'd been through it, Tobey knew—killing the Goblin wouldn't bring peace. It would only drag Peter down into a darker, more twisted path.
Why do people say, "Once they go dark, they get three times stronger"?
Because when heroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, or Superman—symbols of justice and light—fall to the opposite extreme, the shift in their principles and the destruction they can cause is unimaginable.
They restrain themselves with morality, justice, law, and conscience. But once they lose those chains? There's no telling how far they'll fall. And returning to who they were? Nearly impossible.
Tobey didn't want Peter to cross that line. They had fought so hard together to redeem these villains. He wasn't going to let it all go to waste now.
Of course, to some ordinary viewers, Spider-Man's mercy might seem frustrating. "Aunt May is dead, and you still let the killer live? Killing doesn't bring peace—but does sparing him bring closure?"
Some might even prefer someone like Magneto—holding onto his vengeance for decades, killing his enemies no matter what it takes. That's what they call 'peace of mind.'
But that's the thing. Magneto can do that. Peter can't.
Because he's Spider-Man.
Back in the video, Peter locked eyes with Tobey. Then he took a deep breath and lowered the glider.
But just then, the Green Goblin struck—plunging a wrist-blade into Tobey's back!
Tobey collapsed. The Goblin tilted his head and sneered at Peter, his face twisted with malice.
"She was lying there, wasn't she? Yeah, I killed her," he said. "But you… you brought the danger to her. You're the one who got her killed."
Then he let out his signature maniacal laugh. It was clear—he was talking about Aunt May.
A madman through and through. Even after nearly being killed, the Goblin still had to taunt Peter to his face, almost like he wanted him to snap.
Who knows—maybe he really wasn't afraid of dying at all.
